IMO it’s a bad thing that from July 2024 to July 2025 all British Columbia added fewer people that Ottawa, Calgary or Edmonton

DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS FOR A SLOGAN?

calvin’s dad: SURE! "CYCLISTS HAVE A RIGHT TO THE ROAD TOO, YOU NOISY, POLLUTING, INCONSIDERATE MANIACS!
I HOPE GAS GOES UP TO EIGHT BUCKS A GALLON!"

calvin: THANKS, DAD.
I'LL GO ASK MOM.

calvin’s dad: WHY ? THAT'S A GREAT SLOGAN!

Some neighbours oppose tiny home village for unhoused people in New Westminster | CBC News Some New Westminster, B.C., neighbours have expressed opposition to a tiny home village that's set to serve unhoused people. Officials and an advocate say, however, that the transitional housing proje...

You can find people like this for literally every form of progress ever. When will we stop giving the opponents of progress disproportional media coverage?

I keep seeing news articles about opposition to Alto HSR in rural areas, and it's like, obviously. It's just a trade off

For months the 4:30pm conversation is "I can't believe it's dark out right now, this is miserable, I can't wait for this to end". I don't care when the sun rises, it's dark when I wake up either way

How important are local government housing policies?

They’re crucial.

Saanich and Oak Bay exist in the same economy as Victoria and Esquimalt. There’s no shortage of housing need.

The only reason they built so much less housing is because local policies prevented it

That being said, the BC health connect registry was completely useless and I found my family doctor by randomly registering to individual waitlists in my area

I'm one of the 11 percent that got a family doctor over the past 3 years! I'm very thankful for the work the BC NDP has done to make major improvements in healthcare. These things take time, and we're finally starting to see improvements

it's been 2 months since council's long overdue motion passed directing city staff to start posting updates elsewhere. I honestly don't understand, couldn't they have started the next day? what is the hold up?

Figure out your political cope-green-onecity differences, check your egos, and find a way to unite and FIX THIS CITY. We literally will not survive another 4 years of Arrive By Car policy.

This morning in my local paper there were three stories in a row:
-the death of a local triathlete in a hit-and-run
-the death of a toddler in a stroller in a marked crosswalk
-a car plunging off a cliff

Watch out for yourselves out there, because drivers sure aren't watching out for anyone.

it's incredible to contemplate the volume of civic funding and effort spent appeasing:
- people who find the sight of poverty more offensive than evidence-based public health policy
- drivers who think bad traffic is a human rights violation
- residents who recoil from shadows like reverse-vampires

Better yet, why does a provincially funded school need municipal approval at all?

As Tumbler Ridge Mourns, Anti-Trans Misinfo Spreads | The Tyee No good will come from the conservative rush to weaponize the shooter’s identity in this story.

The response to the #TumblerRidgeShooting from far-right media, online commentators and even an elected official in Canada is another dark example of how pervasive anti-trans misinformation has become, even in Canada.

In some jurisdictions they have regular pickup truck sized bin lifters that bring the large bins out to the street ahead of the dump truck, and then circle behind again to put them back in the building. You need some street space on garbage days, but it seems to work well!

The Great Vancouver Bench-marking Project We asked, you answered. Now advocates are using Transit app data to spotlight bus stops that desperately need seating.

Did you know: at least 1,240 Metro Vancouver bus stops don’t have benches for waiting riders! 😱

Working with our pals over at @movementyvr.bsky.social, we mapped out where weary soles are most in need of somewhere to sit: https://go.transit.app/vancouver-benches 🍑🪑
