Update on Groundhog Day at Shubenacadie Wildlife Park tomorrow: it’s cancelled.
Due to the forecast for blowing snow, which would create unsafe driving conditions for people travelling to the park.
This means that Shubenacadie Sam will not see his shadow and that we will be getting an early spring.

Black History Month is observed in Canada and the US as a time to honour the histories, contributions, and lived experiences of Black communities. In Canada, BHM was officially established in 1995, following the work and advocacy of Jean Augustine, the first Black woman elected to Parliament.

I went to cover the chilli fundraiser that students at @gpvanier.bsky.social was putting on tonight. And look what they did to me they put me to work. They were raising funds for the French immersion students trip to New Brunswick.
Today, Chanie would have turned 72. His life, like thousands of other Indigenous children, was profoundly impacted by the residential school system.
His story reminds us of the harm caused by colonial policies and the responsibility we share to ensure this history is neither forgotten nor repeated.
