Looking at your nodes.
That's interesting, you treat it like a calculator, with the carry, whereas I treat it like "each LED/bit does its job without paying attention to the others". My approach is definitely more shader-oriented, yours is more general/object oriented.
Besides, I haven't really field-test it. I'm almost certain I could break it easily.

Grzegorz Wronkowski shared a quick Blender tip to break texture tiling, using a Voronoi texture and object coordinates to randomize mapping rotation, especially useful for organic surfaces like dirt, rocks, and grass.
