Snowdrops! That makes so much sense. How did I ever learn snowpiercer?! (to be fair...I grew up largely between the Tropics... 🤷♂️)
[They look like what I know as "snowpiercers", or what they call Schneeglöckchen ('little snow bells') here in our part of Germany]
So...what do you call these flowers? (wondering if it's different in your part of the world)
‘Hey’ came before ‘hi,’ and ‘hi' came before ‘hello.’
‘Hi’ is most likely a variant of ‘hey.’
‘Hello’ is not related to either.
Goodbye.
I can't say that reading German brings me *joy*, but bless you for leading your students in this endeavour!

Excellent venue for computational humanities work, colocated with ACL in San Diego on July 6. Please share!
When I read here of the “old good days“ of academia & humanities I am not sure when were these days exactly, when women weren’t allowed to study, or when working class people couldn’t afford tuitions, or maybe when only church could provide education? 🤔 #academicsky #academicchatter Give me a date.
Poster advertising lectures on "Raisonnement Philologique et Modèles Informatiques" stating at 4pm, Thursday, March 12, at 54 Boulevard Raspail, Paris.
Paris friends! Amis parisiens ! This Thursday is the first of four public lectures I'm giving on AI and philology, broadly defined: "Philological Reasoning and Computational Models." The advertisement is in French, but the lectures are in English. I'd also love to meet while I'm here in March! 1/
Hi #EarlyModern Bluesky - did you know that someone brilliant has built working printing presses using Lego and they are trying to get enough supporters so that Lego will release it as a kit?
They look so cool!

Umm…I think I’m going to have to give this a try!
I mean, I get the I’m kind of an outsider and am pretty out of the loop, but how is this even possible? 🤯 (guess I’ll have to read that TL;DR)

Thanks for the uncomfortable chuckle… 😒
Hard agree. Last night was brutal (I'm a casual Spurs fan). Trying to figure out if they'll give him one more match or not.
The one I have is two-tone wood (hand carved and inlaid). There's a balance between the body and the cap. Maybe it looks bulky, but the size and weight fit nicely in the hand. But yeah...I'm actually a mechanical pencil kind of guy 🤷♂️
I'm not good at it either! But I think that's part of the point: it's something physical (albeit on a small-scale) to master. It's the holding the pen the right way combined with the right movement of the wrist. It's the physical and audible scrape against the paper. It's screwing the cap on/off.
Genuine question: have you used one recently?
👏👏👏
