I like your theory much better than the one given in the "World History of Dogs" by Petri Pietiläinen, who suggests that wolf puppies were used as surrogate babies after women had their babies taken from them to keep the population down.

No crafted item should be perfect, but if the mistake is going to bother you, it is best to fix it, the moment you notice it, as it won't go away. And I know it can feel disheartening to frog large pieces, but it is even more wasted crafting time, if you don't use the finished piece.
Fixing the mistakes took about 10 minutes (it is nicely thick yarn!), and working back up the few rows about another 10 minutes, so deffinetly worth doing.
I thought there might be a mistake or two to fix later (it was a good movie!), and I eventually found four stitches worked in wrong style. These I ran down one by one and picked them up with a crocheting hook.
First I pulled the needle out, and frogged the last few rows, because that's the quickest and easiest way of fixing this extensive issues, and picked the stitches back up.
Back at home I found a dropped stitch around the time I thought I had made a mistake on which stitches to work on, and the stacking of stitches went hayware, no matter how often I kept counting to two.
1) A yellow scarf with about 5 rows of very mistaken rib, with majority of the scarf worked in knit 2, purl 2 ribbing, and few spots of purls within knitted columns. Scarf is on Knit Pro Spectra Clear interchangeable circulars with green cable. The scarf is laying on purple fabric.
2) The dropped stitch is picked up to a Clover crocheting hook.
3) The mistaken rib is frogged off, and one knitted stitch has been ran down to a purled stitch in the knit column, and the live stitch has been picked up to a Clover crocheting hook. One additional purl stitch at knit column is visible in the next knit column.
4) Mistakes fixed, yellow scarf in knit 2, purl 2 ribbing is ready to be continued where it was left of, when the mistaken rib was observed.
I think it is important to talk about making and fixing mistakes in crafting.
Earlier today I went to movies, and as I didn't have any simple projects on the go, I casted on a K2/P2-scarf. About 15 minutes before the movie ended, I figured out there was an issue.

Needle as invention is depending on the source 70-40k years old, awls 70-220k years, string somewhere between 120-300k years, as are knots. String and string technologies were revolutional then, and once again when the industrial revolution started.
The current theory is that first came awls and needles developed later, possibly quite much later. Likewise it is thought that first sewing was done with sinew, leather strips or other ready made thread-like materials, of course there aren't really any hard evidence of the early stage.

Technical details:
75g of Novita Hygge Chunky.
Main body in FS 2+1 F2 "Fåberg" and the last round of brim in FS 1+2 F2 plaited edge "Rindal F2".
Spiral worked first, the body worked in rows until the spiral is inbound, then worked in round.
I assume AI has used some Scandinavian hats from few nalbinding books as source for hat, in the original the spiral is used as shaping feature to protect ears, and the hat clearly has two of them at the bottom of the hat. For the AI hat, the second spiral is not confirmed.
The type of a hat can be done. I'm not fully sure, if it should be done. Should we validate the generative AI's hallucinations?
In the end of the day, I return to the idea, I have often stated to my crafty friends: "It's two different things, if something can be done and if it should be done."
If I was to re-make this hat, I would alter following: the size of the spiral, I think it would have worked much better as a smaller size, I think finer yarn would have been better choice, because that would have allowed a more loops for a stitch, and I would position the spiral differently.
It turns out, it can be.
After I was done with seasonal projects on 27th of Dec, I gathered my leftovers of the said seasonal projects, and casted on a spiral with intention to see, if a hat like on the cover could be made in nalbinding.
One of the most intriquing pieces was a hat (and another book has a mitten with similar idea), which seemed to form around multi-strand spiral, little bit like Princess Leia's side buns. I don't actually know, why I see the spiral to be worn at the side, not at the front, as it is pictured.
