New post on substack- arguing for more casual, less serious approach to painting.

Took my waterbrush out for a spin a second time. Unbelievable how I only need 3 small things- a waterbrush, this tiny paintbox I got as a gift, and a napkin to paint. (Okay, and paper)
Did a lot of walkcycles for this shot!
A little moving poster I animated for the conference "The Power of Storytelling" happening this March. The theme of this edition is "Connect".
-if an inquiry comes from an inexperienced and possibly irresponsible party so I swat them down in time. But oh, the hours, days, weeks of my life spent on writing quotations.. if only theyβre chargeable π
-even know if we get the job. In this case I already have the project but am just thinking about many other instances. Since quoting a project requires a lot of thought and effort from the illustrator itβs frustrating when weβre ghosted afterwards. Iβve been working a long time so I can often smell-
This is why quotations are very hard to do. E-mails come in asking for quotations for a job and there are always a ton of questions that need to be answered before a meaningful sum can be provided- often, illustrators need to solve a lot of problems clients havenβt thought about, well before we-
Got fresh scripts to turn into comic panels today. I realize that the only way to tell the client how many panels itβll need and how long itβll take is to actually start responding to the text- meaning, to treat them as visual elements in panels, one step before thumbnailing images. This is why-
Gasp, itβs not a doughnut!
Haluuu, good to have you tooo! I never got the hang of the chatter in twitter and I'm coming more from instragram-state-of-mind, which is a lot less wordy and a lot more image heavy for art-inspiration purposes. Hope I'll get comfy soon!

Fun fact- the elevator is going up to 19th floor, like the 19th edition of Animest Film Festival for which I made this animation trailer!
Had a whirlwind trip in Malaysia in January when I found Dear Brother, a book I recently illustrated- in Kinokuniya, my favourite-est bookshop where I spent many, many weekends growing up.
Dear Brother is written by Alison McGhee, published by Atheneum Books For Young Readers.

I made a cinema opening-film for an animation film festival last year and this is one of my favourite stills. "Urban Frames" is the theme of the 2024 edition and I sneaked those words in on passing trams :D
Music by Kadjavsi /Nikita Dembinski!
Now letβs test posting a video!
This is the rough-to-full anim look at one of the scenes from the trailer I made for Animest, an animation festival in Romania.

Iβve had a roller coaster year. Most of it good. Thereβs also a heavy loss. The year hasnβt ended and itβs still showing up with surprises. When my brain doesnβt feel like tangled overcooked noodles, I do feel grateful.
Just testing out the posting Bluesky-
