My guided reading of Book One of Sir Thomas Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur is now complete with 22 videos... find out the story of King Arthur's origins as it appeared in 1485 in unpretentious language and no snootiness!

π‘οΈ Indigo - Kalends of June
"A page arrived today with tidings that King Arthur means to hold a Grand Tournament near the end of July. We're all to return and compete if we wish. This is my chance to do the honorable feats that've so far eluded me!"
An amber shield with the image of a purple serpent coiled around a pillar.
π‘οΈ Amber - Kalends of June
"Sable's 'inquisition' places me in grave danger. If I'm to survive, I require allies . . . and after hearing of Sable's wrath, I've no care to beg Arthur's forgiveness. Let my allies be the enemies of Camelot!"
(On this turn, Amber became a Dreaded Fallen Chevalier.)
π‘οΈ Sable - Continued
"They'd hear no excuse or explanation, so I dismounted . . . and for days sat listening to their grievances, giving my word to bear them back to Camelot.
"This seemed to calm them enough. I expect I shall be able to continue my journey tomorrow..."

π‘οΈ Sable - Kalends of June
"Waylaid again, though this time I can scarcely blame Amber. As I passed through a village, the folk surrounded me and, in anger, demanded why the Round Table allowed so many perils to befall the kingdom..."

If all players are comfortable with that kind of character being in the party, allow the IC friction to happen. The other PCs may quarrel or even fight with the evil PC (and vice-versa), but if the players trust each other, they'll use that to make the story even better.
I'm seeking out 3-4 playtesters!
Starting next Tuesday (Dec 16), I'd like to run an approximately one week long play-by-post RAID game (cyberpunk meets Norse myth).
Playtesters would need to be actively engaged.
If you're interested, let me know. I'll put together a list and server to run it.
The dexterity factor also mattered a fair bit for one's success, but you kinda knew you were setting yourself up for the potential of "fun frustration" going in. It was very lighthearted, and neither of us got peeved because our rolls kept missing.
Dice absolutely landed on the floor, though.
I played a medieval war game like this a couple of times. (Can't recall the title, sadly.) Cards represented units, with each unit throwing a certain polyhedral die to deal damage. Dice landing on any card (yours or opponent's) dealt damage.
The board was a thick cardboard to prevent damage.
Hey, I'd be in the same boat. Every time my brother sees my build, he mentions how inefficient it is, so clearly idk what I'm doing. π
I feel like 200 hours is the minimum to understand the game and 2,000 is the minimum to understand the lore. It's a fun "run-and-gun," though!
I don't play much, but since you posted this image...
AYYYYY, TEAM OBERON!
That's a great idea! (As someone with too many ideas to realistically work on, I feel your pain. Might have to try that, myself.)
And I apologize for insinuating you were rushing. I meant to say there's no rush. Your only timeline is your own. π
Conversely, what's the rush? You aren't competing with anyone else, so you can always make a project a slow burn if you want. I remember a big designer (I think it was Jamey Stegmeier) saying "no 'zero' days." If you just make one card a day (or week), that's still progress! π
Okay, so similar niche but offering a different fundamental "feel." Thanks for clarifying!
I like it! It seems like a neat system, and I can see how it'd appeal to both board game and ttrpg groups--and hey, no one has to be the "forever GM" for this one! π
I remember seeing the trailer for this game and wondering whether they'd be able to pull off something so expansive and ambitious. Thrilled to see they have!
I'm curious: do you feel like it fills a different niche than a ttrpg? At first glance, there seems to be some similarities.
Itβs hard to realize that in 2026 #boardgames such asβ¦
- Terraforming Mars
- Star Wars Rebellion
- Scythe
- A Feast for Odin
- Great Western Trail
- Inis
β¦Will have there 10th Year Anniversary? Such legendary games π. Truly a great year for board games. Whatβs your favorite 2016 release?
Scythe and Terraforming Mars are top of the 2016 list for me. Both are phenomenal!
The flow of play and action economy in Scythe are so fluid (and the automa is slick!), and the synergized mechanics of Terraforming Mars are genuinely some of the most brilliant I've seen in any game.

π‘οΈ Sable - Pentecost
"BLASTED CURS! I spurred my horse faster, faster in the direction I was certain Amber had fled, and yet I'd scarcely gone ten furlongs when another company of brigands ambushed me!
"Again, I rode hard and escaped, but I tire of this. This is Amber's devilry--I've no doubt!"
A red shield with the image of a gold wheel.
π‘οΈ Cinnabar - Pentecost
"I've no idea what possessed me to ask the local peasantry about the fountain of changing colors. EVERY place they've told me to look has so far been naught but a heath . . . or a hillock . . . or a copse. I sense I'm beginning to waste my time..."
π‘οΈ Silver - Continued
"The serpent's body thrashed our ship. We held fast and struck with bows, harpoons, and blades! When it had weakened, we cast a great net over it and hauled it to shore.
"I shall need an army of retainers to help bear it to Camelot, but the reward shall be great, indeed!"
A silver shield with the image of reddish-orange flames.
A board game. A silver knight approaches a sea serpent in a body of water.
π‘οΈ Silver - Pentecost
"I'd no expectations to spend Pentecost on the deck of a ship, much less battling the legendary Afanc! Yet this creature menaces the western waters of our kingdom, and my oaths demand I rally to the realm's defense..."
A blue shield with the image of a gold dolphin (fish).
A board game. A blue knight approaches a troll on a section of mountains.
π‘οΈ Indigo - Pentecost
"My wounds mended, I returned to sort out the troll that'd bested me weeks ago. Joyously, I was better prepared this time, and it fell to my blade before it could assault the village nearby!
"Lord willing, my quest has regained its pace and purpose. Time shall tell..."
π‘οΈ Emerald - Continued
"I removed my hand and bid it depart. Its gaze seemed so clever as it stared at me in the moment before it bounded off.
"No sooner it fled than another beast came upon me--a great white hound! A fay but companionable thing, it hasn't left my side in the days since!"
A green shield with the image of a white heraldic antelope.
A board game with many knight, castle, and village pieces. In the center, a green knight approaches a white stag.

π‘οΈ Emerald - Pentecost
"A miracle! The white hart fled merely a few days' ride away. This time the creature permitted me to lay hands upon it...
"Yet I couldn't capture such a marvellous beast, not even for my king and queen..."

Heh, thanks! The salt shaker propping up the artwork is doing all the heavy lifting! π
A booklet titled "Glatisant," posed with artwork of a sword and branch, a pin of a golden antlered creature, and a pin of a knight.
Aieeeee! My copy of Glatisant is already here! All of the items in the bundle are beautiful. I can't wait to dig in, and you better believe I'll find an excuse to wear those pins!
Hats off to @graftbound.bsky.social: Lucas, Emily, Ally, and Fran!

π‘οΈ Sable - Continued
"The wounded relayed, to my horror, that I'd been deceived. Their words were clumsy and unrefined, but the manner of fighting they described was doubtlessly Amber's!
"I hastened back to accost Amber, yet they had fled! With the Lord as my witness, I shall avenge this evil!"
π‘οΈ Sable - Continued
"To my eternal disgrace, I put up my lance.
"'You swear 'tis true?' Said I.
"'On my heart and head,' came the quivering reply.
"Commanding Amber to wait, I rode on to the village. Destruction was at hand on all sides..."
