calling โ€œyouโ€™re so braveโ€ or โ€œi hold space for trans peopleโ€ or โ€œmy self work involves decentering cisnormativityโ€ style rhetoric that is ultimately contentless and divorced from real concerns allyslop

I was about to write a YIMBY screed in response to this before I saw what subreddit it was for.

leaders like trump are why sun tzu had to write a bunch of advice like "don't write your enemy a letter detailing what tactics you really don't want them to do"

The Singularity is upon us: Apple's AI summarized a text message that read "I'm still down to clown if you are" to.... "clown event still possible."

Specifically, I think this sentiment was common among 1. Men (and some women) 2. Who thought it was simply WRONG for a woman to be commander-in-chief, and 3. Made up whatever other reasons they felt were required in order to justify this belief

The problem isn't automation. The problem is billionaires.

How is tech annihilating the social safety net? I mean, other than funding conservative billionaires like Musk?

I agree that we need political action to make sure we share the surplus as fairly as possible but the graph shows that suffering - the worst kind of it anyways - is dropping like a stone. We do ourselves no favors by downplaying the great victories we have won for ourselves.

Yeah. My *hope* is that as wages rise everywhere else, corporations will be forced to invest in Africa.

Sure, but other than solving the millenia old problem of endemic poverty for the majority of humanity, what has automation done for me lately?

10.03.2026 19:08 ๐Ÿ‘ 5 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Automation made the 40 hour work week possible in the first place.

Automation is good because it creates the surplus we can fight over.

Personally, I look forward to automation making us so rich that everyone who wants to cosplay as a olde-timey yeoman farmer is free to do so.

"Corporations are trying to automate farming. Time for farming communities to come together to resist"

I am eager to learn how this could mean anything other than "we should resist farming automation".

If they didn't want people to think they opposed automating farming, they shouldn't have lied about it doing so in their post.

As a Google employee I got to test drive an early model variant that went too far in the other direction: at one point yelling at me in ALL CAPS when I failed to agree with it.

In Gemini's defense: I was wrong on that particular argument.
