I sure hope it's declining and people are realising it just isn't worth it.

Nintendo could easily make NDS games available for the switch 2 if they wanted. Just make an adapter that holds the joycons while the screen is flipped into a vertical position and split the screen virtually. Since it's a touch screen you can get all the functionality back as well
This International Womenβs Day, five women at EFF talk about the women who have inspired them. www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...
I think Pombon's final evo will be inspired by the New Guinea Singing Dog, its closely related to the Dingo (Fire Fairy maybe?). Gecqua I think might be Water/Psychic and I hope it gets a turban idk why. But I can imagine it having one. And Browt might turn into a Cassowary inspired one #pokemon
So this is the vibe coding crowd I've been hearing about? It all makes sense now!
I have a strong suspicion that they vibe code drivers now at nvidia
dare I say it? the new pokemon game looks promising, with the longer dev cycle and all. If they give it the time it needs before releasing it, I might actually have to get a switch 2 after all... lol
Basically, if you use it as placeholder during production but remove it, or vibe code your entire game, its ok with valve. only if the consumer sees it, it gets the AI tag

Now that Steam quietly changed their AI policy, using a "Non Gen AI" seal like polygon treehouse's @kanaratron.bsky.social seal is gonna be even more important for Indie Game Devs. Being public about not using AI slop, even if it's "just" in the code, is gonna become a very important distinction
I think it's a shame when games try to add eldritch horror bosses and then go on and over explain their lore and existence and background... that's not eldritch horror, that's just a creepy tentacle themed boss now. Eldritch horror is supposed to be hard for mortal minds to grasp & unexplainable
Why blame a tool that has nothing to do with the bad optimization issue, instead of demanding better optimized games from the devs who create those games?
This is the same thing as the "Unity games are bad" fad because people saw the splash screen of the non-pro unity license shovel ware games.
It has nothing to do with UE5, it's bad optimization on the devs part. Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time runs perfectly on my amd systems and even on the Steam Deck. And it's made with UE5.
Think of Epic whatever you want, but this issue isn't an engine issue, it's an optimization issue
The more AI-slop floods the internet, the more I think there needs to be a new network that somehow manages to ban all this bullshit, and only allows human created stuff and somehow also bans data scraping by AI corpos. Because the current internet is turning into a rotting corpse.
I think the redline is the en masse corporate theft. claiming to "democratize knowledge/art" while privatising the profit made from the stolen labour. Not to mention the environmental cost, which they don't take responsibility for either.
Procedural generation is not the same as gen ai. It can even be done in board games (ADnD had rules for how to generate dungeons and terrain) and has been done in video games since NetHack (released in 1984). It's completely different.
We're stoked to introduce the 'No Gen AI' seal for indie games!
Indie devs can use it on their game's store page to assure potential players that their game was made without the use of Generative AI.
You can grab it from the Polygon Treehouse website:-

Easy mistake to make
gonna switch away from @mozilla.org #firefox their stance on AI is stupid, making it opt-out instead of opt-in is stupid. Guess I'll try LibreWolf.
I learned gamedev at the university in unity, and now that I am learning #godot on my own I gotta say: nodes are so much more intuitive than the mess that are prefabs
The sad truth is, it will be scraped by AI companies on here too. If you post it online it will be scraped. The only way to somewhat fight back is by poison-pilling the images you post which is technically difficult and not a 100% surefire way.
I am gonna say something that some might consider controversial: Not everything in art needs to be made for everyone to consume.
I think we need a new internet, this one is broken
Intro skeet thingy for the #GameDev feed: I'm Alice, i'm austrian-australian, I studied gamedesign and 3D modelling, after uni I struggled with disability for a bit but now I am finally working on my first game
Doesn't matter, updating versions can break your build. You stick to your version for the lifetime of your project unless there is a serious bug in the engine that needs fixing
So people who use a wheelchair can use it.

I guess I'll be using #godot after all. I can't wait until the AI bubble bursts. Maybe once they realise that the 10 something nuclear powerplants they need for their 10 gigawatt datacenter isn't gonna appear out of thin air by 2027 it'll burst.
To all those still using #windows, you'll get a free spyware upgrade in form of Copilot and Copilot Vision (this one directly sees what's on your screen).
If you think 1984 was a warning not an instruction booklet, consider switching to #Linux
no i don't want ai to browse the internet for me, no i don't want it to do my art, no i don't want it to think for me. I want a robot that does household chores so I have more time doing those things not the other way around. What a weird little dystopia we found ourselves in
Linux is the way. There is now even a linux native Baldur's Gate 3 client.
