like it's not just that there's more going on there socio-economically, the framework also isn't super adequate to capture the believability parts of injustice happening to disabled people

if your mental health condition makes it hard for you to organise your thoughts or express yourself intelligibly, there's nothing in the framework that determines that e.g. a doctor is wrong to disbelieve your statements, because someone's being incoherent isn't an irrelevant identity prejudice

to judge a person as less believable, at least in the trad definition of epistemic injustice. mental health conditions affect how you take in info and how you express yourself, and the framework falls short bc it assumes there's a kind of normatively correct level of trustworthiness people are due

i think part of the issue with epistemic justice as a framework is that in fricker's version, it's about identity prejudice unduly or disproportionately influencing judgements about a person's believability, while a lot of mental health diagnoses contain criteria that would make it "appropriate"...
