There’s frustration and a sense of defeat in his tone, but there’s also something else Belle can’t quite pinpoint.

“It is different when the action is purposeful,” he gives a vague answer. His half lidded eye flits to her.

“But,” he clears his throat. “I am glad that it is you, doing this.”

“It’s for Corin,” he says with the gravity of a fifty year old sergeant going to war. “A bit of fur is nothing, Miss Belle.”

She plucks another strand. He actually whines and sags his tail.

It’s like this — Belle is gently plucking out a few strands of fur from a fluffy wolf man, and Lycaon looks like he wants to shrivel into a ball.

“Are…are you sure?” She asks again, for the fifth time, but he shakes his head. His ears are flat, squished down.
