This position has still been echoed by foreign policy leaders. Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi repeatedly called to overhaul unjust global financial system at UNGA. President Prabowo also stated Indonesia's position as a "bridge" between the global north & south.

To summarise the argument: Indonesia's position towards NIEO (as primarily articulated by then Foreign Minister, Adam Malik) is twofold:
(1) to support Indonesia's ambitious development projects and
(2) to 'bridge' the global south and the global north in international political economy.

my colleague Farahdiba Bachtiar (UIN Alauddin Makassar) on Indonesia's position towards the New International Economic Order - looking at Indonesia's role since the inception of NIEO in the 1960s and 1970s and its re-articulation today.
