A month ago we said: if 500 people backed the idea, we’d launch a new local newspaper for West Yorkshire based in Leeds.
Overnight, we’ve just surpassed 400 pledges 💫
That means we’re within touching distance - but nothing is guaranteed yet.

Milne can appeal the sentence and has indicated he plans to do so.
The stalking offence is separate to the freeholds issue, which is currently being investigated by the SRA.
However, they have restricted his right to practice unless he does so under the supervision of an SRA-approved solicitor.
District Judge Lisa Toad said: “As a solicitor, you had a duty to remain professional in your interactions with Daniel Cloake. Instead, you stalked him.”
Toad said his fixation on Cloake left her in “no doubt your actions have had a lasting impact on him”, adding “he was genuinely fearful of you”.
BREAKING: Andrew Milne, the solicitor who has been buying up hundreds of freeholds in Sheffield and then demanding money from homeowners, has been sentenced to a 24 month community order and 300 hours of unpaid work for “grossly offensive and menacing” emails to the court reporter Daniel Cloake.
