Happy birthday, Jason.
Do something wild like, I don’t know, go to a gig?

Early Brookie was great. Fun fact…my dad’s construction company built Brookside Close. He was working away up in Liverpool for months.

Just looked up when I stopped watching Brookside. It was 1991 after the β€œwho killed Sue Sullivan” saga.

God knows why he popped into my head

Is this pre or post Gizzmo Hawkins?

Magnificent.

Was that late 1988? Saw them together at The Astoria in London.

I saw them them not long after it came out at the Finsbury Park tent with NO, ACR and The Railway Children. Complete one offs back then, weren’t they. Should not have worked but, boy, did it?

I definitely had the Desmond issue as we all remarked on the β€œborrowing”.

Kuff Dam, Tart Tart and Little Matchstick Owen are the only three for me that would make a playlist. I had the original pressing with Desmond and the fancy Dan PVC sleeve.

I bought it at the time but can’t listen to it now. Prince’s version was my favourite single of 1986. I think it was Pete Astor at the time who said the AOC had deradicalised the original and he’s right.
Still fond of the first two AOC singles, mind.

Yes, from recent experience, it’s tough especially when the decline is sudden. Warmest wishes to all who loved Muffin.

Well done. Currently on antibiotics for the second time this year with a no booze stipulation. Like a glass or two most nights but reassured how easy I’ve found abstinence both times.

Something heartbreaking about Joy Division’s warts and all live version on Still. Probably the best song they wrote (in my opinion).

Yeah, I love the outsider’s eye on the dynamics of The Go-Betweens.

I immediately thought of 99% of Sunday night drama on the BBC when I read this.

Yeah, seem to remember now the mixes were different from the 7” versions I’d bought in the β€˜80s.

I bought this to mop up some of the non album singles and B sides but not sure how comprehensive it is

Nine songs from the one I went to at Hebden. Sounds great quality too. Psyched.

Got this for my 23rd birthday in 1989. Buffalo Stance still sounds magnificent.

Yes. Terry Bickers is the best guitarist I’ve seen live.

Don’t disturb him. He should be busy finishing his magnum opus.

Can’t go back. 21 years worth went in 1995. Got more for the singles than albums.

It is. I only know the EP. Were there others or radio sessions?

Sadly the vinyl all went in 1995

Yes but also feel the same way with The Storm. I’m no audiophile but I had the singles on vinyl and the album on cd and I remember the vinyl sounded much better.

Are we familiar with this lost classic? Bought it 40 years ago and it never gets mentioned. Know David Lance Callahan is a fan too.
