I can finally share news of the exhibition I've been working on as part of my postdoc with @hematopolitics.bsky.social! 'Blood: Ties and Tensions' will run from Feb - June 2025 and explores the social and cultural meanings behind blood donation and transfusion.

An abstract, artistic portrayal of blood vessels, some of which are made of a rough hessian material, and others which are made of red pieces of twine.

The exhibition will feature a range of fascinating objects relating to blood donation and transfusion across the centuries, and will play host to an art installation by fantastic local artist Gemma Wood. Here's a sneak preview!

A promotional poster detailing a temporary exhibition hosted by Thackray Museum of Medicine in Leeds. The background is a pale peach colour. The main feature of the poster is an abstract, artistic portrayal of blood vessels, some of which are made of a rough hessian material, and others which are made of red pieces of twine. Overlaying this artwork, in bold white text, is the word BLOOD. The subtitle reads 'Ties and Tensions'. Underneath are a series of logos, including the Arts Council England, Arts and Humanities Research Council, and the University of Leeds.

Currently on a serious hunt for Ministry of Health Blood Donation Campaign Reports post 1950! If anyone has any knowledge of where they could possibly be, please give me some advice! I've not found any luck as of yet in the National Archives nor Wellcome!
