I am reading all the advice I can but having been bought up with her correcting every mistake I made (she was a school teacher). It’s so hard to resist correcting her now.
I know it’s the disease and not her fault but correcting her just makes her cross but I can’t help it.
My 87yr old mother is in the early stages of #dementia. She functions pretty well but is still in denial about her decline. She burns more food than she eats but still thinks she is a great cook, she forgets so many things then denies you ever told her them. It’s really hard to be her daughter now.

I now don’t know how to feel about her death.
I am sad, especially for her family and her children, who are now orphans as their father died 2 years ago too.
But I can’t cry. Maybe I am still in shock or processing it, I don’t know.
It’s a tragedy no matter what.
I just didn’t enjoy visiting her any more. It wasn’t pleasant to be criticised constantly. It felt like she was trying to belittle me. My husband couldn’t understand why I had stuck around so long.
Still our families were all friends too so it created a bit of a rift.
A childhood friend of mine has dropped down dead of a massive stroke age 59. I broke off our friendship when my daughter was about 7yrs old as she was constantly telling me how my parenting techniques were wrong and I should do everything her way (think late Victorian child rearing) 1/2
