Old enough to remember today; any Aussie on their high horse about American offshore renditions should hang their heads in shame. we were the inspiration!

In Goldstein this election. Won't be spoiling my ballot.
It's not some grand moral stand or anything. I just really hate Tim Wilson for his stint as Human Rights Commissioner.
Look at the timestamp
Special shout out to pathological liar Scott Morrison who decided to blame aid workers for his negligence

Just a reminder that Dutton covered up child abuse while he was Immigration Minister.
This isn't a major ALP talking point because Tony Burke is likely also implicated in the scandal

Journalists have been burned alive inside tents from bombs dropped by Israel. The footage of this is horrendous β and yet we are watching human beings live this every. single. day and our leaders and media do nothing.
4 panel comic Panel 1: Purple Guy and Red Guy. Red Guy is pointing to his phone saying: My jokes are racist as fuck and I donβt give a shittt. lmfao Panel 2: Red Guy: Hope you donβt find my edgy humour too offensive lol Panel 3: Purple Guy: I made a joke about a dead billionaire Panel 4: Red Guy, absolutely livid: Iβm tellin

Your wellbeing is completely irrelevant to the people who have the ability to actually influence parliamentary politics.
Politics in Australia is largely different elements of capital fighting over the spoils and it's been this way since before Australia was a country.
This.
It's not even a dollar a day lol.
The fact that the ALP's central policy going into the federal election is a $268 tax cut is extremely funny.
They've learnt absolutely nothing.
Aus journos with nothing to say about the targeted killing of Hossam Shabat, or any of the scores of other journalists deliberately targeted by Israel over the past 18 month, just know that we see you
Speaking at this tonight with the anti-poverty crewβI have been given the enviable task of reading Scott Morrison's mind and interpreting his vision for the world π€ͺ
Honestly he's been dead for years.
The Libs keep his corpse in the freezer and do a "Weekend at Bernie's" every federal election.
I'm more pessimistic.
I think we are trapped by parliamentary, economic, power distibution and electoral incentive structures.
There's no pathway for viable reform and even the spectacle of large scale spoiled ballots doesn't change anything because voting doesn't disrupt power structures.
It did.
The only question right now is which outcome we are sleep walking into:
Outcome 1: Minority ALP govt - the slow rot continues
Outcome 2: Minority Lib Government with hostile cross bench- Faster rot
Outcome 3: Minority Lib with compliant crossbench- system cannibalises itself
There's not really much to say about the Federal Election beyond things are going to get worse.
I, like a lot of people said on the last election night a hung parliament was inevitable because the small minded technocratic liberalism of the ALP would fail.
The thing about Trump taking over/ dismantling the administrative state is that it's the systems equivalent of cancer attacking vital organs.
Things like the education system and security apparatuses are designed to stabilise and protect the system not undermine it.
One thing I hope the archives will be useful for is writing histories of structural adjustment in Zambia.
Zambia's labour movement fought to remove the one-party state in 1991 and then were incredulous when they new government they had supported turned on them.
The ABC article shows why the NSN are so insidious. Not just grooming at-risk young men but luring & entrapping women as young as 15 for the sole purpose of breeding. The dangers of groups like the NSN go beyond harassment & intimidation of minorities. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-02...
The lesson is simple. Just hold to your values and do what you can where you can.
Got a win at work today.
2 years ago I convinced my manager to switch our area's milk supplier to a social enterprise, Fruit2Work that mitigates some of the damage our "justice" system causes.
Apparently that snowball kept rolling and the whole Uni officially switched across today.
Ah I'd hoped the first shortage had completely sorted itself up. I haven't had an issue since October
It would be nice to see mainstream media acknowledge that every alarmist in their ranks about Trump and his henchmen has been correct, and every single "Let's all calm down" guy--a posture of blasΓ© detachment that is consistently over-rewarded in legacy media--has called it wrong from day one.
Look what happened after the Munich Putsch or Jan 6.
There was no real cost to failure because they're not seen as threatening as leftists by the powerful.
