- LGBTQ Rights - particularly the removal of civil rights protections from Trans Iowans. Don't avoid this - it MATTERS.
- The economy (lol). Put it on blast that Republican leadership has driven Iowa's GDP into the ground and the GOP is pushing young/educated folks out of the state

If Dems/Independents want to win in Iowa in 2026, here's the platform:

- Reversing school vouchers + taking back public education (which has historically been the state's pride and joy)
- The cancer crisis! Iowa has the fastest growing rate of new cancer cases in America. Rs have done/said nothing

-NEW: Julie Stauch (D) just threw her hat in the ring for Iowa Governor. Again, we love a primary!
- Also NEW: According to WalletHub, Iowa has the worst economy in the country. which is really bad! But also, another excellent talking point Dems can run with in 2026.

to announce a run as well.
- Sarah Trone-Garriott and Jennifer Konfrst are running against Zach Nunn in IA-03. We love a primary!
- Rob Sand is running against whoever the Iowa Republicans put up for Governor in 2026 - could be any number of freaks since Kim Reynolds will not run (certain defeat)

Damn I haven't been on here in a damn minute but let me catch y'all up on Iowa politics:

- Iowa's Republicans in DC are getting a heavy dose of well-earned bad PR (hi, Joni Ernst and Ashley Hinson)
- Nathan Sage and JD Scholten have both announced a run against Senator Ernst. Zach Wahls is rumored

Government Efficiency program over six years ago that has been so successful 2 other states copied it

- Gov. Reynolds kept it relatively tame, as she is running for reelection in 2026 and doesn't want to scare people with her true, far-right ideas

- Iowa could save time and money and LIVES if our GOP-led government would acknowledge environmental (hi, Big Ag!!) contributions to the spike in cancer rates

- Since "Government Efficiency" seems to be a priority, I hope Kim knows she has a State Auditor (Rob Sand) who started a...

- She acknowledged our shortage of clinicians in Iowa, but failed to make the connection between doctors who want to study/work here and abortion bans deterring them

- Iowa nationally ranks #2 in new cancer cases, and she insisted "we can't jump to conclusions" about causes

- a 36% wage increase in a small population of childcare workers who are making $8.50/hour doesn't mean much, but it's a start

- Reynolds proudly declared "Iowa ranks #4 in (insert unverifiable claim) and made no mention of Iowa ranking dead last for OBGYNs per capita

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds gave her Condition of the State last night. Here are my takeaways:

- Iowa does not need a "DOGE" department. The GOP-led government is already delivering below the bare minimum for its citizens

- Creating work requirements for Medicare recipients will harm people in need

I think people should leave their Christmas lights up indefinitely.

The communal enjoyment of fun lighting should not contained to 2 months of the year.

My favorite conspiracy theory is that Donald Trump will face accountability for his actions
