while we're pretending Gretchen Felker Martin did something wrong, let's look back at current Wonder Woman and DC Studios writer Tom King making a really funny joke about torture when asked about how his CIA career affected his Batman writing. Featuring a very overeager laugh from James Tynion IV.
Gretchen Felker-Martin was suspended (or banned it’s unclear to me) from Bsky and fired from DC comics for one of the more tame posts about a nazi’s death I’ve seen on this website. This is because she’s a trans woman. That is the only reason. “We don’t support messages of violence” is bullshit.
Gretchen Felker-Martin despite being an accomplished and extremely popular author getting her book canceled at DC for the lightest comment on a bad mans death is the culture that made me quit comics. Abusive white men get to be celebrated forever and everyone else is struggling to get a story in.
The article doesn’t say this but the writer was Gretchen Felker-Martin, a trans horror writer famous for killing off JK Rowling in her novel MANHUNT. To cancel the series because of a few posts about Charlie Kirk’s death is craven nonsense: you knew who you were hiring!

Many, however, did participate in a campaign to de-platform her through boycotts, review-bombing, etc. *They* often framed their criticism as progressive. I expect no self-reflection about this, or the fact that not only has the run being cancelled, but #1 is being recalled, as if it's tainted.
Whether is due to panic and compliance or conviction, DC cancelling Gretchen Felker-Martin's run isn't so much hypocrisy regarding what they're willing to tolerate from other authors, as it is showing where they stand, politically speaking.
