Wow same. I came out as gay in tx 20 years ago and trans in Texas about 10. I took baby steps toward transition even back then though. I -mostly- trust a few close personal allies in my life, but I have lost faith in organizations, and definitely in political parties. I hate the Dems so much. 😓

Our "allies" are sitting on the sidelines silently giving ground to the right until they want something (money) from us. I don't trust them either anymore. We are alone. We need to lean on our own community, no one else is coming to save us.

An all-Republican 4th Circuit panel has just ruled that states can compel trans adults to "appreciate their sex" by enacting care bans.
It even directly says that trans adult care bans are legal in the ruling.

I changed my name first in 2009, then my marker and second name change a few years later. I came out as trans and started transitioning about 2015. I believed we were full fascist and were getting better, because Im from Texas and my partner was military in the 00s so DOMA and DADT were a big deal.
I kind of feel like the US ever being anything but transphobic was just a trick to make us come out so they can draw up lists and wipe us out. I keep having nightmares about a trans travel ban that stops me from escaping cuz I once thought it was safe to legally change my name and gender marker.
The noise my academic advisor made when I explained to her I didn't really get a high school education because my mom is a narcissist who cared more about feeling like the ultimate homeschool mom and actually wanted me to fail in life. She gasped when I told her about my SATs and how I got my GED.

You're fine! Words can be so hard to work with. I've just been seeing this narrative lately of "true" trans people suffering in shameful silence. I had a cis woman tell me recently she was our biggest ally, & she's just so mad at the loud "men in dresses in bathrooms" making us look bad.
Not all of us are secretive... Some of us are actually quite loud about it. Lots of us.
And a better word would be private. Secretive implies sneaking around and being dishonest. Private means it's no one else's business.

I stopped going at 18 and they became a full blown megachurch after. I helped build the new auditorium! Then I got the boot for being queer. 🤷 It was absolutely for the best though.
