I think one of the real challenges in discussing anything to do with trans people is that the media simply cannot accept that the anti-position is entirely eliminationist. There is no way to "exist in public whilst trans" that they will accept, right down to celebrating a doctor quitting.

articulating brilliantly - as she always does - the shitstorm that is headed the way of women if Reform get more power. This is war.

Lost an actual doctor in favour of a transphobic, racist roaster who was objectively dogshit at her job. Good work everyone π
I donβt live in Gorton & Denton, but I care about what happens there this week. The outcome for this election will really set the tone for UK politics in the coming years - Either division and hate, or community, hope and inclusion.
This isnβt a safe Labour seat anymore. Itβs a real three-way race.
The Street Art Mystery is out today π
A story about creativity, courage, friendship β and how art can hold secrets and make us look closer.
This is the final outing for the Copseys, and Iβm so grateful to everyone who helped bring their journey to life, and to every reader whoβs been part of it. π€
Thank you so much! I'm so happy to be on this list!

Currently working on a YA book that I'm going to send out to agents π hope things are good with you too.
A year ago @alicenuttallbooks.bsky.social released her debut novel - The Zombie Project - and it's absolutely fantastic. It's middle grade but it's brilliant for all ages. It's funny, exciting and sweet and just scary enough. So proud of her! Check it out amzn.eu/d/aNdw2gU
it is the same playbook everywhere. βvote for us! we will make you great again by punishing the people you hate! do not pay attention to the fact that weβre also shoveling your money into the pockets of the uber wealthy and building a giant boot to step on your face too (preferably forever)β

This is the biggest rollback of LGBT rights in the history of the UK. I'm ashamed to even live here.
BREAKING π¨
The updated EHRC Code of Practice has now been sent to the Government. The Code is just as bad as we feared.
It would mean a mandatory trans bathroom ban, and trans people's exclusion from public life. The impact would be devastating.
But politicians still have time to stop this.

The aim and effect of leaving the ECHR can only be to reduce rights protection in the UK - maybe for some immigrants, but potentially for other groups out of favour with the government of the day, and ultimately for everyone /2
You can't be anti-fascist if you're transphobic. And if you're "gender critical" then you are at the very least a collaborator, if not fash yourself, because "GC" is gender fascism. It doesn't matter how left-wing you think you are.
Haemorrhaging support every day, wrecking what would have quite an easy nice legacy, making the lives of minorities actively worse and making sure I feel anxious and depressed all the time....Sir Keir has played a blinder again!
The Prime Minister is actively stirring trouble and xenophobia.
βI donβt want asylum seekers to live on my streetβ is genuinely a wild thing to say as a notionally progressive politician

Today, along with over 80 partner organisations, we are writing to MPs across the UK, calling for robust Parliamentary scrutiny of the Equality and Human Rights Commissionβs (EHRC) forthcoming Code of Practice on Services, Public Functions and Associations. "Any change to law or policy that risks the human rights of any group should be subject to full Parliamentary oversight. ... Anything less would represent a serious failure of parliamentary duty."
What can you do? Write to your MP! Together, we have created a template letter that you can use to express your personal concerns and asking them to push for proper scrutiny of the Code. It is incredibly important that MPs hear from their constituents that are directly affected, so they can advocate on your behalf. Please personalise your letter as much as you can - it helps to ensure that your concerns are heard and felt. Link to the template on our website!

From BBC news website: I 'completely get' concern over asylum hotels - Starmer Starmer is asked how he would feel if a hotel housing asylum seekers was at the end of his street. "I completely get it," Starmer says, adding: "Local people by and large do not want these hotels in their towns, in their place, and nor do I. I'm completely at one with them on that." Starmer says he understands why people want the hotels closed and he wants that too "as quickly as possible". Asked to put a date on it, Starmer reiterates his commitment to do so by the end of this Parliament. When it's put to him that is four years away, he says he would like to bring that date forward, but does not commit to another date.
Oh nothing, just the actual Prime Minister telling people theyβre entirely correct to drive asylum seekers out of their communities
Archive screenshot from the Sex Matters website reading: βTim Allan Trustee Tim Allanβs career has spanned working as a senior advisor in 10 Downing Street for Tony Blair, running corporate communications for BSkyB and founding a communications consultancy, Portland, which grew into one of the most highly regarded global reputation-management consultancies. Since selling Portland, he has become an investor in the communications consultancy sector.β
Keir Starmerβs new director of communications isnβt just the founder of Portland Communications β which represented Qatar, Russia and Kazakhstan β heβs also come straight from the board of the anti-trans charity Sex Matters.
The government is heading in a dark direction.

The βBritish personβ in this instance was me; I do find it deeply amusing that, as well as being extremely racist about British Indians and their role in British food culture, this America has managed to name the curry that was most famously created in Britain
I think that IS Loki in that pic.
