But, rather than receiving a formal
invite to meet Trump, Farage was in
fact invited to Mar-a-Lago by a
member of the club, according to
multiple people briefed on the matter
They said Farage had hoped he would
be able to catch Trump for a
conversation as the US president was
scheduled to travel to Mar-a-Lago that
evening. However, Trump had a
change in his itinerary and decided to
stay instead in Doral, about an hour`s
drive away
The Reform leader's failure to secure
an audience with the US president
underscores a weakening of ties
between the two populist leaders who
famously formed a close friendship in
the vears before and after the 2016
Massive humiliation for Farage, who tipped off the UK press that he was flying to Florida to have dinner with Trump... only for Trump to decide he had more interesting things to do when Nigel arrived.

Interesting that the total vote for Labour, Greens and LibDems in the Gorton & Denton by-election was 68% - just as it was in 2024
So, Labour is haemorrhaging votes to the centre and left, not to the right

Great that you attended the debate and spoke positively about re-engaging with the EU and benefits of Customs Union.
We would welcome an even stronger positive commitment to EU integration from @libdems.org.uk. After ten years, #BrexitDisaster @glasgowforeurope.bsky.social @cluthaman.bsky.social

Have you been watching Dirty Business on Channel 4? Sensational stuff. I hope there will be repercussions and serious action taken, including the abolitioon of the Environment Agency and its replacement by a fully-funded department including scientists and investigators with real legal powers.

New border rules for British dual nationals need to be quickly shut down, say Lib Dems
Letter to Shabana Mahmood describes controls that could block British dual citizensโ entry to UK as โunacceptableโ
Pleased to talk to @theguardian.com about the call from the @libdems.org.uk and me for the Government to move at speed to delay the rollout of new border controls that could result in British dual nationals being blocked from entering the country.โจwww.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

A vintage-style cartoon illustration of a comedy duo resembling Morecambe and Wise on a theatre stage. The comedian on the left gestures broadly while the one on the right smiles. A large speech bubble above them asks, 'What do you think of BREXIT so far?' with 'BREXIT' in bold red text. In the foreground, the silhouette of a large audience responds with multiple speech bubbles all shouting, 'Rubbish!' and 'RUBBISH!'.
Is #Brexit rubbish? Well, only 11% say itโs more of a success than failure (bestforbritain.org , Sept 2025).

Photo of Yusuf at a lectern saying โshadow Home Secretaryโ (Wot?)
Reform's plan for a 'British ICE' combines cruelty with stupidity
Project forward to 2036 under a majority Reform government and the picture darkens further. Britain would be smaller, older and whiter; more isolated from Europe; paradoxically, more vulnerable to foreign interterence and less able to fund its own defence.
The welfare state would shrink to a skeleton. Charity would fill the gaps.
Flags would proliferate; rights would not. The police and courts would be politicised. The BBC could disappear.
The NHS would survive only as a minimal safety net. Protections against discrimination would erode - you might indeed be sacked for being disabled.
Migrants and even their British-born children could find their rights curtailed unless they were deemed to
"contribute" sufficiently. Meanwhile, the wealthiest would enjoy a generous, low-tax regime.
โRarely has a British political party unveiled a programme that combines cruelty with impracticality on such an extravagant scale.โ
Chilling on Reformโs increasingly confident fascism. High on viciousness and greed. Very low on wisdom. A ruinous combination.

@zannymb.economist.com - the below article comes across quite negatively.
To what extent do Sรฉjournรฉโs proposals incorporate Draghiโs?
What fate the UK, with proposed, โtrusted partner status?โ
The UKโs and EUโs economic fates are tied. Could @theeconomistnews.bsky.social shape debate more?

Other than a tussle over sovereignty with Member States (MS) on regulations, it is unclear as to what the Commissionโs proposals actually consist of beyond:
- European champions
- New trade deals
- Single regulatory framework to stop MS gold-plating.
Have Sรฉjournรฉโs plans incorporated Draghiโs?
