The lads are already planning the workshops after being inspired by the day (there's definitely some drama & time travel in the pipeline...)

Today we took our Young Leaders to the @ncmme.bsky.social for their training sesh. Shout out to Rob, our guide, who spoke about education through the pits, on the job training, identity (& much more).
Don't mind having a working weekend when you get to spend it at the @ncmme.bsky.social being part of the "History and Legacy of the 1984/5 Minersβ Strike Symposium" www.ncm.org.uk/whats-on/his...
i often see schools insisting that marginalised children speak βformallyβ in βstandard Englishβ because of βhigh expectationsβ. but this is just another example of schools having low expectations of what nondominant language styles can do and the linguistic innovativeness of marginalised children.
there is no empirical relationship between a teacher's accent and their ability to teach. but there is a long-standing ideological relationship which frames non-dominant and non-standardised accents as signs of imagined pedagogical illegitimacy.
So proud of the Young Leaders who smashed the research event at the @ncmme.bsky.social Shout out to @mikkmurray.bsky.social our Graffiti Artist who captured the lads' stories & John our former miner who led the coal workshops & supported each stage of the project β www.instagram.com/p/DFQgdL1KYy...

Right it's officially Christmas for us ππΎπ

I've broken into the Christmas cake (stress eating after a department meeting ππ)
I'm picking up a session on Climate Change and Climate Justice in the New Year with my Primary Education students, it's not my field so if any has any resources/papers etc please do hit me up π€π€
(yes I know it isn't an independent Coffee shop and I do usually support small businesses) but big shout out to Costa Barnsley for always accommodating us and letting us have our meetings there β
Just to note, this shows the lack of available spaces for young people in Barnsley, we have to meet in Costa most of the time because there is nowhere else open after 6!
Late one last night with the Young Leaders planning our event at the National Coal Mining Museum. Every time I meet them, their drive, vision, and spirit of inquiry, (and of course their wit cos they're from Barnsley) gives me hope and the will to keep going and keep researching β
I want to be her friend
No you're crying at the last episode of Doctors π Right what do I fill my lunchtime void with now? Does this mean I find a programme that's an hour and actually take a proper lunch break?
Is it communism yet?
A huge thanks to the @ncmme.bsky.social for hosting the event ββ
