Cancer Ablation What is Cancer Ablation? This is a minimally invasive surgical method to treat solid cancers. More modern types of ablative style treatments may be described as non-invasive.  With conventional ablation, special probes are used to “burn” or “freeze” cancers. Computed Tomography (CT), Ultrasound (US) or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is used to guide and position the needle probe into the tumour.

Not only is it scary and sneaky, but it's also cunning, devious, misleading, and double-crossing.

Carcinoid vs Neuroendocrine There's a constant debate regarding the validity of the term 'Carcinoid'.  I've posted about this a few times and as far as I know, the debate has been raging for some years.  This post was originally generated in April 2015 (and hasn't changed that much!). EDIT MARCH 2024. There is now a consolidated Endocrine/Neuroendocrine Tumour classification system (Blue Book).

I also found myself smiling at the fact that flushing is connected with the toilet and a type of red warm feeling in the upper torso – the two main symptoms of the Carcinoid Syndrome associated with the most common type of Neuroendocrine Cancer. “Please flush after use” – erm…yes sure but actually – no thanks
