Haha, perfect analogy.
Haha, perfect analogy.
Yep, a bit like one of those kids football matches where all of both teams run after the ball.
The problem is that the system only works when the leaders of your country are sane and not criminals
All the current system does is give Trump the oxygen he needs to pretend that this is all perfectly normal
Course, for him to do that he needs millions of people willing to believe it.........oh
Hope and denial are powerful drugs
I sort of agree with this, but the alternative is that everyone ignores what the President of the US says and does
I'm not sure that would work either
Hell, I'd be willing to give it a try though
I know we're meant to believe in the inherent wisdom of the markets, but they seem to be entirely unable to take in what the rest of us see plainly - nothing the US president says can be relied upon. The markets keep surging and falling based on his pronouncements. The markets are clearly idiots.
Not sure why people are panicking about this, Graber was a crypto kid and is staying at Bluesky anyway, while Schneider founded Automattic and seems a much better fit for CEO. The problem here is the interim bit.
Having Pete Hegseth in charge of the DOD has always felt like an insanely risky proposition. He's deeply unqualified, and is concerned with projecting dominance to the detriment of actual leadership.
Now though...feels like this could be a catastrophic failure of leadership.
Above my pay grade to check the math but this argues (with data) that even under US attack Iranian drone production can keep SoH closed for months causing inflation, food shortages and global recession. US is facing catastrophic strategic defeat policytensor.substack.com/p/why-the-us...
Screenshot of two tweets from Elon Musk. The first is a poll with over a million votes cast and 11 hours left to run, asking "Have you ever bought anything based on an ad on this platform?". Option Y shows 11.8% and option N shows 88.2%. The second tweet is a reply to the first, and simply says "Sigh" with a tear emoji.
11.8% would be an extremely good purchase rate for online ads, if this poll was accurately measuring purchase rates for ads on Twitter/X, which of course it is not. But it's clear that the owner of this online ad supported business has no idea how online ads work. No big surprise I guess.
Ah, good! All the best with it all.
Although I do sometimes suspect that the pharmacy gets blamed when it's the prescribing doctor who has sat on things.
This will be me tomorrow. "We're just waiting on the pharmacy" is one of those sentences that sounds like "Give it five minutes" but actually means "Did you bring a sleeping bag?".
Just a reminder itβs been two days since reports came out, later acknowledged by Trump and his Administration, that Russia has been helping Iran to try and kill US military personnel.
And the Trump response so far has been...drum roll please...to reduce sanctions on Russia!
Itβs a very winner-takes-all economic system. Which, coupled with the entire nation being designed around cars, does explain why theyβre terrified of high oil prices.
And also the state offers them virtually no protection from their employers, yep.
thereβs a fundraiser for one of the hair places it housed, only opening there last week too is awful bsky.app/profile/zany...
There are so many Steves. Sadly.
Putin gets:
High oil prices,
Loosening of sanctions,
An EU that's weaker politically and economically,
An Iranian client state that's even more dependent on him,
A US military rapidly depleting its smart munitions,
A global surge in anti-Americanism.
Quite a haul. Even Israel can't match it.
Trump's decision to bomb Iran is now the greatest windfall to the Russian war effort on record. If it continues, it might save the Russian war economy.
love how we killed the old, frail anti-nuke ayatollah just to have him replaced with his young, healthy son who wants nukes and who just had his father, mother, wife, and child murdered on the same day by his mortal enemy. surely this will bring peace to the region
Only TWO UK news platforms reported on this happening yesterday - and neither of them made clear it was ANTI-TRANS ACTIVIST MEN who did this!!! π£
The transphobic UK media are INTENTIONALLY SILENT as it doesnβt support their narrative trying to promote trans-allies as the aggressors!
A good day to give thanks for fire and rescue personnel in Glasgow, and around the world
can everyone on here stop the conspiratorial chat about developers and fire
obviously glasgow's had dodgy fires in abandoned buildings but this is not that! it was a busy, occupied building in the city centre
you're just taking attention from the real scourge which was likely unsafe vapes
Few things better illustrate the "two nations divided by a common language" thing than Brits hearing Americans talking about "gas prices" during a crisis. It's not just the words, it's the fact that you're outraged at paying *half* of what we pay while your salaries remain far higher than ours.
Nothing quite as reassuring as hearing someone on the Today Programme saying βI think itβs a little early to panicβ.
Her research into "Who keeps disagreeing with me while being male?" seems to have been extensive, yep. Steve should be okay as long as he hates trans people, which I reckon sounds like a pretty safe bet.
Indeed. Reporting implies it's three ground level catering units. A major listed building in which I imagine a few hundred people are employed is gone. Huge knock ons. I just watched holidaymakers turn up with their cases at Motherwell station, probably bound for MCR airport. No luck.
Things look grim in the markets right now, but at least the U.S. economy wasnβt already being propped up by a massive speculative AI bubble that is highly sensitive to rising energy costs.
