Yeah I can’t stand that gatekeeping BS, I’ve always viewed film vs digital as a personal, artistic, or economic choice

This is actually the exact advice I was given by multiple folks, and I’m so thankful for it

I grew up during the transition to digital, so I had my own film camera before we had a “family” digital point and shoot

Hard agree about the “limits” of film though, I’m definitely liable to take more pictures if I bring the DSLR, and more likely to be deliberate to a fault with film

My wife prefers Nikon as well, most of my film is shot on my Olympus OM-10 since I’ve had it longer

I learned a little about photoshop in high school, but for now my wife edits my digital pictures just because she has access to it at work and we don’t at home

I’ll probably also go the canon route as well, since they’re the only brand I have both film and DSLR bodies for and both Rebels use the EF mount to boot

She was actually way more into photography than I was! Even won a couple contests in our teens, but once I got started she found that she enjoyed viewing & editing my photos more, which is stupid amounts of cute and is so endearing to me
