Heard this in a bar last week and it stuck with me.
Mellow and shoegazey.

Book six of 2026 is Cabin by Patrick Hutchison, a humorous memoir about buying a rural, off-grid property, learning to live off the land and homestead. Apt!

I like two songs only on this new album, Aperture and Taste Back. The rest is incredibly weak, mid at best. So gutted! I'm surprised critics and reviews are so favourable.
Yikes! Harry Styles' new album is not good at all. I'm so shocked!
Happy World Book Day! I am currently reading Under the Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes.

What a busy week! I am amazed at all I've managed to get done.
St David's Day π»
A busy but rewarding day, it feels like Thursday rather than Tuesday!
That said, I am genuinely happy for Hannah Spencer and the Green Party's win in Gorton and Denton. It at least gives us hope.
It's hard to be political given everything we now know about UK and US politics from the Epstein Files that reveal party politics as pantomime for the public, with a 'cross-party elites versus the poor public plebs' hidden agenda.
My dating want these days seems to be "seeking a friend for the end of the world" we're living through some truly dark times and I feel things will be getting darker still.
I have just finished this and I found it an odd book, can't quite place my feelings. A 3.75 out of 5 on my Storygraph. That said, I raced through it, so there was certainly something about it. I will watch the film adaptation at some point as I think Fiona Shaw is marvellous!
I'm just doing things β¨οΈfor the plotβ¨οΈ at this point!
Book five of 2026 is Hot Milk by Deborah Levy.
I am at the very beginning, but already it has struck a chord:
Lifeguard: "You have to stay with me for one more minute, and then I will have to ask again how are you feeling."
Sophia: "I want a bigger life."

Final days of the Year of the Snake?
Well, this week has shown me a lot that needs shedding. People. Patterns. Places.
So much outgoing energy, support, and effort, with so little in return. The imbalance has become impossible to ignore.
Hello, February!
The sun is shining, the birds are singing, the weather warming. Heating off, cleaning done, candles out. Happy Imbolc π·
So sorry to read that Catherine O'Hara has died. Great actress and brilliantly funny π€
Iβve gone back to the 90s for book four of 2026 with Moab Is My Washpot, Stephen Fryβs autobiography.
