Yep! It was at the beginning of the parade route while everyone was getting set up.
Iβm pleased with how it turned out. I thought the subdued and grainy look would be fun.
These are from the 2025 Chinese New Year parade in San Francisco this past Saturday.

Yesterday I was downtown to photograph the preparation for the Chinese New Year Parade and encountered a demonstration against genocide in Gaza.

*MORE lighting tests. lol
Not lighting tests. This time fully manual and in medium format.

That was my normal workflow until I used the NLP free trial with a roll of Kodak Gold I had been unhappy with and I havenβt looked back since!
I scan as a .DNG positive using SilverFast on my Epson v600 and convert the negatives in Lightroom using Negative Lab Pro. Set the pre-saturation to the minimum for the initial conversion and then tweak a little from there.

Iβve found that the medium format is more forgiving in the grain than 35mm. Iβve also gotten some practice in on how to scan it.

In the interest of using this space more often, enjoy some photos I took in Chinatown on Saturday. (Developing and scanning myself really suits my impatience.)

I really need to get into the habit of posting here on the regular.
A tale as old as time.
That was attempt no 2. Attempt no 3 included some gaffer tape to block ight coming through above the film rail. Need to spend more time with a pen light and dark room to see where else itβs coming through. Nothing like late 1980s Soviet engineering.
FWIW, I scanned them kn my Epson v600 and converted the negatives using Negative Lab Pro. It tends toward an even warmer cast and much more contrast when scanned using a lab scanner.
Today I shot some Harman Phoenix at EI 100 and pulled it a stop in development. I dig it. This is also my first roll of it in 120.

Got into the darkroom today and made what is my best print so far. Looking forward to more split grade printing in the near future!
This was Kodak Tri-X at box speed with a red filter. Printed on Foma paper, 7 seconds at grade 0 and 5 seconds at grade 5, with a 3 second burn on the top edge.
There are a few people who I develop film for and tonight before bed I developed a roll of medium format HP5 for one of them. Itβs from their new Holga Panoramic camera and those 6x12 negatives are making me want one for myself.

My initial effort to fix the light leaks in my FED 5V have been unsuccessful So my antifacist collaboration with communist workers continues.
Stage two involves making foam light seals for a camera designed in the German style to not need them.
Though given how checked out Iβve been feeling at *my* job after the election, I canβt say I blame anyone involved in making this camera.
Mind you this camera was manufactured during the collapse of the Soviet Union and still sealed in plastic inside its box that was shipped to me from Ukraine. The tales of late Soviet quality control appear to be true.
I think I may have finally solved the light leaks on my FED 5V that had landed it on the shelf for months.
Thereβs definitely a missing screw and filling that hole with some epoxy seems to pass the flashlight test.
Itβs been a minute since I posted photography here so enjoy these recent photos taken on my Yashica Mat 124G using Ilford Delta 3200 that I developed in TMax developer.
I kind of stopped using this because so many of my friends werenβt and now everyone finally jumped on it so hi.
