Right? I'm biased of course but it was a top 5 sports moment

One thing we don't talk about enough as baseball fans is how GOOD the production values have gotten.
Watch Czechia's Ondrej Satoria leave the field to a standing ovation in Japan. The WBC production crew shoots it like a movie. You couldn't storyboard, shoot, and act this any better
The Vladdy post-game interview with Hazel in the playoffs really drove this home for me.

Absolute pros, I love it
I voted (in-person for the first time) today! Got to vote for @robinlynnekelly.bsky.social and @robertpeters.bsky.social and it's just nice to have some decent progressives on the ballot! If you're in IL, go vote early!
I immediately read it as gendered when I saw it. You use a real picture (of you and elliptic curves, imagine thinking you needed to learn calculus) and it seemed clear that the person replying didn't know anything about you other than your gender and the specific artwork you made for the book. Gross
Yah my initial reaction is that it's the coolest professional sports team logo I've ever seen
Holy shit I wasn't ready for that logo!
You can't just say those numbers on a day like today after a past few days like the past few days, it's hurtful to those of us staying here
Baseball is so cool
Isn't it great?! It seemed obvious to me to try to get @acidlich.bsky.social to do it. I've loved her art for a while and she does a great job of embedding cool math in it. I think she really nailed this one, and I can't stop smiling about it
I donโt even know how to tell you this but my art is on a math book
Many are saying this!
OH SICK
Cover art for Discover Calculus. The background shows a plane flying over water in an arc. Reflected in the water is the plane and its arc but also diverging curves, rippling in the water. In the background is a bridge and some lights. The sky is dark with shining stars, a crescent moon, and beautiful clouds. The whole picture is a warm grey/brown with black hatch shading and white highlights. Discover Calculus Single-Variable Calculus Topics with Motivating Activities Peter Keep
It's here! @acidlich.bsky.social created this beautiful cover art, perfect as a representation of the book. While students will mostly be interacting with the book digitally, I'm very excited for the printed copies that we'll be making to give to students as well!
#MathSky ๐งฎ
I'm hearing people describe it as the best news possible!
It's me, I'm describing it that way over and over, because it really is the best news for me!
The same drawing as above but I have changed the warm gray to warm reddish pink
No one asked, but here it is in glorious pink
It's beautiful!! Lizzie is incredible, and I'm so excited to get to use this! Anyways, commissioning art from people from #MathSky is perfect, 10/10, buy stuff from @acidlich.bsky.social.
Illustration on grayish brown paper, has a very nice texture of a plane flying above a bay as night is falling. The shape of the planeโs flight path is rather like a piece of the graph of cosine, reflected in the bay can be seen this same part of a cosine kind of shape with some graphs bouncing off of it, represented by white reflections in the surface of the water. These represent the first few approximations of cosine by Taylor polynomials. Beyond the bay can be seen some building and lights and bushes and a suspension bridge. The sky has a crescent moon and is full of stars. Hatch shaded with white accents
Exciting news, I finished a drawing!
I still actually havenโt decided on a name yet, but I might call it Taylorโs Theorem. I am however open to (good) suggestions (emphasis on good)
First day of Spring Break and I got my taxes filed! I deserve several days of not doing a single thing for overcoming this huge obstacle.
"sin^2 ฯ is odious to me, even though Laplace made use of it; should it be feared that sin ฯ^2 might become ambiguous, which would... occur... at most very rarely when speaking of sin(ฯ^2), well then, let us write (sin ฯ)^2, but not sin^2 ฯ, which by analogy should signify sin(sin ฯ)" -- Gauss
DW staring at the Garfield "You are immune to propaganda" sign saying "that sign can't stop me, because I can't read!"
I haven't figured out the regent yet, brain too simple to manage two currencies at once
Ok beat it a couple of times today, safe to say I'm caught back up.
I've seen it around, but haven't tried it. I have a hard time getting those kinds of games, because I often feel like I'm buying a second copy of something I already have. I've heard it's really good, though!
A view of sand dunes from the top of a tall sand dune. Lake Michigan is being them.
Shoreline on a beach with the skyline of Chicago visible on the horizon.
Very nice morning trip to the Dunes. I always love these kinds of outings, where we pretty much have the place to ourselves.
Highly recommend the 1 hour version!!!
Ok, disconnected my main PC from the Internet, loaded up my old unsynced save, and then reconnected to make that the steam cloud save. Lost some progress, but at least all the characters are unlocked again.
Corrupted save file, have to start over, this sucks!
It would have been weird to leave the best American player off of the roster just because Buffalo is GTA-adjacent
Everdell set up on a table. There is a round green board with cards and tokens and symbols on it, as well as a tree standing up. In front of it are various cards. The whole thing has a very cute woodland theme.
7yo is finally learning to play Everdell. She's been asking for a while and we finally have the time.
