Aura by Carlos Fuentes? It's a horror novella with mystery and romance, you might want to read it first to check the content (pretty sure there's nothing graphic but my memory isn't great). I have a bilingual edition, which is great for someone learning Spanish and/or interested in translation!

Insecure used prop "Habanero Oreo" packaging in a few episodes. This was around the time Oreo was starting to get weird with their flavors so I had to look up if they were real or after watching the show because it seemed somewhat plausible!
