20th C when even most conservative US Christians were reconciled to an ancient earth & a succession of extinct creatures, if not to evolution per se. Young-earth creationism only took off in a big way since Whitcomb & Morris's 'The Genesis Flood' in 1960.

Erica points out something I'd never thought of before. How hypocritical it is of YECs to claim theistic evolution can't be "good" since it involves death while defining "good" as "anything God does".
