5. Provide greater digital literacy education.
Banning stuff doesnβt work.

βA parliamentary committee examining the impact of social mediaβ¦has stopped short of recommending a ban on under-16s accessing social media.β
The committee made 12 recommendations. Hereβs a Top 5.
1. Consider options to make it easier for the government to enforce laws on digital platforms.

It was expected that corporate media would eventually cave to Trump.
Whatβs stunning is how quickly they all gave in.
It has been two weeks since Gail Furness released her NACC Robodebt 6 report that rendered Commissioner Brereton's position untenable. That he continues to cling to power and further undermine the already cratering public confidence in the NACC is bizarre and, hopefully, temporary. #auspol
For those who missed the excitement of the final 2024 fledge at #367Collins, here it is in slow-motionβwatch as the chick grabs her parent's leg and ends up being dragged off the ledge. And rest assured: she flew away beautifully once she let go of her parent. #PeregrineFalcons

In honor of all the new arrivals, I'm sharing one of my favorite videos.
It shows 24 hours of Earth's rotation, with the camera locked to the sky instead of the ground. We're all hanging out on this spinning rock.

βLondon-based Octopus Energy now allows households in the UK that generate more solar power than they need to donate it to families who are struggling financially.
Octopus says its new βsolar sharingβ offering will help them gift it instead.β

"If youβre a health-care worker who sees a patient in a mask, put one on for them. Donβt make them ask. Donβt psychologize them. Donβt betray the trust theyβve shown you. Theyβve put their lives in your hands. Donβt take that for granted, itβs not an easy thing for many of us to do"
I've been warning about this for years. On current trajectory Peter Dutton will be PM. The Qld LNP are not the NSW Libs, SA Libs, WA Libs, Tas Libs or Vic Libs. They are the political decedents of Joh. They must be resisted. They must not get control of our country. #auspol
Ch7 Queensland, could you please elaborate to the Qld people how Premier David Crisafulli "ordered" workers back to work? The 58th Qld parliament hasn't opened yet so upon what executive order did he issue this? #qldpol aus.social/@Qldaah/1135...
Why the top House Democrat is not accusing the House Republicans of covering up an investigation of the sexual misconduct of an AG nominee is beyond me. Fight, harder.

What's wrong with the Qld ABC News report from Sunday night? Where to start? There's no scrutiny of what the government is claiming. There's no questioning of the WorkSafe legislation & what the government is intending to change. #qldpol aus.social/@Qldaah/1135...
The back to the office campaign is about wealthy investors losing billions on central property.
Itβs not about work performance at all.
Why write an article mostly discussing work performance, when the issue is property investment?
Tail ends of Queensland Ch7 & Ch9 Sunday night political reports. This is how the Qld LNP establishes a need for expansion of chaplains in schools under the guise of addressing bullies. A gentle insertion into a conversation between journalists. #qldpol aus.social/@Qldaah/1135...

Discredited Brereton should stop whingeing and resign from the NACC
A speech by National Anti-Corruption Commissioner Paul Brereton was devoted to why he shouldn't resign. It demonstrated why he should.

It is true that the sub judice contempt rule needs to be reformed as it is out of step with modern digital reality, however in the meantime the best way to ensure Alan Jones gets a trial at all (let alone a fair one) is to shut up about the criminal charges against him.
Perhaps a good time to mention that a couple of years ago I put the Arctic Ocean climate stripes on our Christmas cards and we got loads of positive comments about the amount of interesting discussions it started with friends and family
Noticed that there doesn't seem to be an obvious Circular Economy Starter Pack... So, I've started one here (slightly UK/EU centric). Suggestions for additions welcomed, and also how to add people quickly using the app, as it seems quite convoluted:
