If you do research in atmospheric chemistry, I hope you consider joining us for Pacifichem in Hawaii!

We are looking forward to a great set of sessions. The due date for abstracts is April 2, but there is some flexibility. Let me know if you are interested!

Line graph time series of 2025's daily Arctic sea ice extent anomalies in red shading compared to each year from 1979 to 2024 using shades of purple to white for each line. Anomalies are computed relative to a 1981-2010 baseline. 2025 is currently a record low. There is substantial interannual and daily variability. There is also a long-term decreasing trend.

The magnitude of the current size of the #Arctic sea ice extent anomaly is unheard of in the satellite-era record for the deep winter season months.

I have to say that I’m thoroughly enjoying the timing of #AMS2025, right after a lovely vacation. Rather than coming back to work with a ton of admin, I come back to work learning a ton from smart people and brainstorming new ideas!

So I should always take a vacation before conferences?

The #NBDGroup is at #AMS2025 this week at the Atmospheric Ice Processes session. Looking forward to an ice-solutely great session and it’ll be really ice to see you there! (Snow joke in serious!)

My group has noticed that our paper acceptance emails tend to come through when the lead student author is on vacation.

So the obvious conclusion is to take more vacation right? πŸ˜„

Hey #chemsky. Getting into the Christmas spirit and both ChemScrapes e-books will be free in your local kindle store from 00:00 (PST) on 22 December - 23:59 (PST) 26 Dec 2024.

I just found some typos, but it's OK - it wouldn't be ChemScrapes if it were perfect :). Please help spread the word.

There are about 27,000 scientists at #AGU24, and about half of them work on climate one way or another. Whenever I walk into a room like this, I always take a moment to take it all inβ€”all these people dedicated their lives to working on some of our toughest problems. That gives me strength.
