If we want an honest debate about AGI, we need:

🟢Clear disclosure when humans are in the loop.​
🟢Guardrails on anthropomorphic design and marketing.​
🟢Real alternatives and opt-outs for users who don’t want to be nudged by staged “machine” intimacy.​

That matters for AGI ethics because:

🔴It distorts our sense of how close we are to “general” intelligence.​
🔴It exploits precarious workers whose identities and contributions are erased.​
🔴It manipulates our tendency to anthropomorphize, training us to treat systems as if they really care.​

From teleoperated robots serving drinks at flashy demos to chat workers paid to impersonate emotionally intelligent bots, companies are outsourcing “machine” empathy to hidden humans — and then selling it back to us as proof of progress.​
