Today's #birdoftheday theme is #sideprofiles. Sharing a three quarter profile of a spotted owl.
You might be surprised. Lots of younger people. The common stereotype of old folks in dorky hats and binoculars is not what your peers are doing. Give it a shot, you might be surprised. It's outdoors, active & meditative. I just started this past June and it's changed my life for the better
More AZ specialties from the weekend. Lawrence's goldfinch, black throated sparrow, cactus wren and rock wren. #birding #birdphotography
More western specialties from the trip to Scottsdale. Vermillion Flycatcher, Western Flycatcher, Black throated blue warbler and Harris's Hawk. #birding #birdphotography. Fantastic birding in Phoenix can't imagine what Tucson is like.
Anna's, Costa and broad-billed hummingbirds seen in Maricopa county AZ this weekend. Beautiful birds! #birding #birdphotography
A nesting colony of cave swallows under a bridge at Base & Meridian southwest of Phoenix. Another lifer. #birding #birdphotography
Ran into dozens of nesting Great Blue Herons. First time capturing a rookery. #birding #birdphotography
Took advantage of a trip to Scottsdale to get some birding time. 81 species including Wilson's Warbler, cactus wren, Western Flycatcher and gilded flicker. Riparian and desert habitats are truly special #birding #birdphotography
Digging through pics from the mass of 10k snow geese at a reservoir in Warren county NJ and I think I spot a Ross's goose with a smaller more triangular bill. #birding. I was maxed out on the zoom of my Nikon P1100
Center frame, Bald eagle's nest, where two, very much alive Canada Geese are sitting and apparently sleeping.
Center frame close-up of two Canada Geese sitting/sleeping atop a Bald Eagle's nest.
Happy mid-week friends... you can find a lot of different things while out birding, but this is one I never expected to see. In fact, this might be one of the last things I expected to see sitting atop an Eagle's nest. #birds #birdingOH #wildlife #nature #photography #eastcoastkin πͺΆπ·π¦
NJ's World Series of birding registration is open. It's a great fundraiser for NJ Audubon. Last year's winner recorded 196 species! I am thinking of forming a team. give.njaudubon.org/site/SPageSe...
Fantastic! My lifer Virginia rail was similar. I have had several lifers this year that were just not satisfying so always great to have it setup so wonderfully. Congrats
Congrats and great shot. Hoping to see one in AZ this weekend
Beautiful capture David
This made my day Steve! Thank you sir
Please donβt forget to vote today! Texas, Arkansas, and North Carolina are kicking off the 2026 midterm cycle with their primary elections.
This regimeβs priorities are just completely ass backwardsβ¦
JFC (seems like an appropriate response)
How is this even possible or acceptable? We have fallen apart as a serious country.
Deleted my last post because I said barnacle instead of cackling. Early morning brain fog. So excited to finally see a cackling goose (2!) after many false ids and eBird reviewer corrections! #birding
Seriously, heck of a day.
Woke up at 3:50 am to drive 2.5 hours to south jersey for sunrise to chase short eared owls, and then a day of #birding at Forsythe. Dipped on 4 of 5 targets but amazing time with four SEOs.
Yesterday I was birding in south Jersey when we got notice of a pink footed goose in the northwest portion of the state. Off we went. Thankfully several birders found the needle in the "10k flock of snow goose haystack!" and got my 3rd ABA rarity alert of the year. Super fun. #birding
if you believe in any form of free enterprise at all, the idea that the Pentagon can not only cut off your contract but designate you a supply chain risk and prevent other companies from buying from you just because you won't build killbots for the government should be terrifying
Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #BestOfTheMonth, your bird captures you like best from February. Eastern screech owl, house finch, harlequin duck and red headed woodpecker.
Are you new to birding?
Was my lifer to boot
