and i'm sorry we have to be so careful conflating that with the normal sort of jealousy. because it's not an emotion it's a way of thinking. envious people are delusional. it doesn't matter if they think they 'haven't acted on their mindset' because timely inaction, withholding care, is harmful too.

then there's 'jealousy' that isn't normal. the sort of envy that manifests into deep, sickly, resentful rot. it's scarcity mindset combined with entitlement, not rooted in reality, shaping and motivating a person's active and passive behavior in multiple areas of their life. it's ugly, it's scary.

that's the 'normal' jealousy i believe... and yes, almost anyone can experience at some point in time. it goes alongside the 'fear of someone taking what you have' like someone else spending time with someone you love or outdoing an accomplishment you've made etc. that's normal. we all have aches.

it can also be a response to the unjust social hierarchies we are born into, like, a temporary existential crisis. whenever you're reminded we've all genuinely been dealt different cards. but again, it's an ache! it either transforms into defeat or motivation. it's a signal your dreams need tending.

if you're empathetic, jealousy (if you feel it at all, not everyone does) is a passing emotion. it's like yearning. it reminds you you want more in life. it is set off by seeing others have or experience the things you want, but the focus ultimately lands on what you need to do to get there as well.

i do have a take on this jealousy conversation by the way, and it's essentially 'there are two types of people' lol because i don't think we're all talking about the same thing when we're identifying jealousy as an emotion
