Yeah. When I was at The Trace we linked a ton to studies, court cases, etc, but we followed print logic (nice coinage). As a reader that’s what I prefer as well.

This is why pubs should use links only to expand upon or provide evidence for points that are fully spelled out in the article. A good motto to follow: don’t make readers click a link to understand what you’re saying or what you’re referencing. Do that, and link rot isn’t much of an issue.

Sidestepping the IJ debate: DFW’s essays, collected in book form, are far too long β€” I say this as someone who edited one of them for a magazine β€” but a bunch of those essays are brilliant. That was his natural medium.

It's Official: the Cybertruck is More Explosive than the Ford Pinto - FuelArc News We now have a full year of data for the Cybertruck, and a strange preponderance of headlines about Cybertrucks exploding into flames, including several fatalities. That’s more than enough data to comp...

The Ford Pinto had a death rate of 85 people for 10 million cars sold. The Cybertruck hasn't sold 10 million, but the fatality rate so far maths out to 1,452 people killed per 10 million sold.

The Cybertruck may be the deadliest road car, for the occupants, ever sold.

It will be K-Pop for the same reason this year was Bad Bunny: capitalism. NFL is eager to move into Asian markets, just as it’s eager to make greater gains in Latin American markets. Plus next year’s SB is in LA, which has a large Korean community. Makes too much sense not to happen.

True sports guy doomerism are the dudes who keep interrupting a game shouting things like, β€œthat was a hold!” and complaining their team didn’t win because of the refs.

Find and read Erik Hedegaard’s brilliant profile of JCM focusing on his insane smoking addiction β€”he smokes in the shower! Written in the 90s. Appeared in a collection of great magazine stories that somehow got killed. (Tobacco ads played a role here.)

You should read Ian McEwan’s latest, the dystopian climate novel What We Can Know. It’s told largely from the perspective of those selfsame future historians.

The oil companies realize it will cost hundreds of *billions* to get VZ infrastructure up to speed and create usable crude there, and that this will all take at least 10 years to make happen, right?

Here to defend OBAA’s needle drops. I *loathe* Steely Dan, but that song worked perfectly in the martial arts training scene. And β€œAG” like you said was spot-on (and was a subversive meta nod to the use of it by J Demme, one of PTA’s favorite filmmakers).

Really? That’s a low bar. Dylan alone wrote at least four: Like a Rolling Stone, Hurricane, It’s Alright Ma, A Hard Rain’s Gonna Fall…
