Hello Friends,
Tomorrow afternoon we have the launch of Swamphen 11 (2025): Recentring the Regions
When: Thursday 19th June, 2pm AEST
*Where*: Zoom DM For Link
Edited by the Swamphen Editorial Collective (Chantelle Bayes, Rachel Fetherston, Adam Grener, Jennifer Hamilton, Alanna Myers and Sue Pyke)
Informatics of Domination is out with @dukepress.bsky.social! I co-edited this experimental collection with Zach Blas + @melodyjue.bsky.social across years + countless zoom chats. I remain stunned by the brilliance of our 50 contributors: read.dukeupress.edu/books/book/3...

Yes! I agree with you on that point. I think I just often fail to include that access date in my citation management software and then it feels very odd!
How does #academicsky feel about access dates for websites in reference lists? I think at first I thought it was about currency, and indicator if the website is dead that it was once alive and what date to look for on wayback machine, but it does seem a bit... imprecise / hard to track.
www.dukeupress.edu/informatics-... I'm hugely excited to have a little piece in this collection, co-written with Astrida; the pieces are all writing into and updating bits of Haraway's landmark 1985 essay "A Manifesto for Cyborgs". Out this May.
Late last year at AAWP I held a Community Weathering Station Breakfast drawing on activities from mine and Astrida's forthcoming book "How to weather together" (@bloomsburybooksuk.bsky.social @bendoyle.bsky.social) and I blogged about it here: communityweatheringstation.net/2025/01/28/r...
Thank you :)
Oh that's interesting. The opposite problem :)
I wonder if any #academics will hear this question and if there's a hashtag we use on here like #academicbluesky (?) - has anyone written anything good on the limitations of paraphrasing? I find students who paraphrase a lot do it in ways that are unhelpful for their overarching arguments.
One of the final tasks of the year is a very special one! Doing the reviewer and final corrections on Astrida Neimanis and my book βhow to weather together: feminist practice for climate changeβ out (in more affordable paperback!) with @bloomsburybooksuk.bsky.social sometime late 2025 ππβοΈπ¦οΈπ©οΈβοΈ
I'm running a Breakfast Weathering Workshop on Anaiwan Country for the #AAWP24 conference. We're doing some activities that are in our forthcoming book How to Weather Together. And, we're gonna have breaky together. communityweatheringstation.net/2024/11/18/e... #weathering #breakfast #writing πππ±
