Forest Landscape Rendered in Cycles
Forest Landscape Rendered in Eevee
I got back to into making a forest map. One was rendered with cycles and the other with EEVEE.
While I do not intend to give this model or the sword a glow, glows still look good.
After getting the fading in and out sword to work, I decided to put it into use. Enjoy the short animation showing it off.
Thanks to some clever texture mapping and manipulating (definitely not an idea I came up with myself), I was finally able to create objects that gradually teleport in. I can also manipulate the speed using bones on the armature of the object. The object is still there, it just becomes transparent.
Thankfully, electricity requires far less than fire. The wobbly movement of the electricity is driven by a scene time node attached to noise texture applied to a set position node's offset. However, everything is attached to an IK rig.
Basically:
Small movements - Automatic
Big movements - Animated
Finally, I have a Blender fire that can run in real time, can be modified, leaves a trail when moving, can be viewed from any angle, and looks decent. Basically, it is everything I need. Simulation nodes were the way to go.
Next is lightning. With what I want, it will have its challenges.

New profile picture. Rendered in Eevee.
Where there is SMOKE, there is fire.
After the initial particle fire, I made many adjustments such as particle speed and density. I also gave each flame particle transparency based on lifetime and an animated texture with a noise texture. The smoke is a copy and pasted fire with adjustments.
The geometry node set-up was monstrous, but I find the results exciting. I finally have a particle fire system using a classic generated-then-deleted meshes set-up. It can run in real-time, too. The render was done in Eevee.
Always note the signs.
Demonic Look of Disappointment
Seeing the post, I also realized I made the punchline resolution dependent. Here's a slightly clearer view of her face at the end.

I went back to polish the weight paints. I got a lot of use out of the blur tool to make cleaner overlaps and produce less jagged edges. It was very helpful making edits to the already posed character.
Doing the work, I decided to share some facial expressions I could create.

I was wondering what more these clothes could use. The answer was more clothes.

"Does my magic amuse you?"
"No, I'm just cold"
Here is a brief visual explanation of my fire particle effect. As said before, it is an image sequence played on a plane mesh. To explain it metaphorically, it is a video played on a partially transparent and floating piece of paper. Yes, this amuses me greatly. Here's to #3D.
Looking into it, it seems particles are usually procedural, cleverly animated meshes, or flipbooks. There are probably more, but these seem to be the most common. The video features what is likely a flipbook. Two point lights were put around the fire. Glare was added in the compositor.
The undead mage lights a fire in his palm.
This is one instance of a fire particle in #Blender. It is an image sequence from an earlier fire simulation render put on a plane mesh. It allowed the video to be rendered relatively quickly in Eevee. Details will be posted later.
Iβm at a point where I want to make particle effects in Blender. Weβre talking things like fire. How could we do that? A simulation.
Problem? I want to render it before I die. How do games do it in real time?
Well, you take a mesh⦠and playback a recording of a simulation.
*inhales* Alright.

One day, I will make a character with normal eyes. One day.
This is the initial render I sought in Eevee. While it is similar to the second photo from the earlier post, I felt it was worth posting because it's brighter and we can see our demon better. There's also a version with a rim light, but personally I prefer the shot without it.

I finally made an entire 3D scene in #Blender from scratch. Everything including modeling, rigging, and texture painting was either hand made by me or is a photo of my clothes. All thanks to Blender!
The orange render was done with Cycles and the blue one was done with Eevee.
