Ju's #promptcombo #free40 this morning was tricky! I had a go at something seasonal, trying to remember that the real world rests and restores regardless of human ignorance and stupidity. Thanks @hool415.bsky.social for the prompt I'll try to read others later! #poems #poetry #writingcommunity

Your Birthday
lost daughter
small girl once held so close in the dark
forever touched now by unfathomable distance
whilst she holds her anger
closer than
her lost mother
For this week's #PromptCombo #Free40 - a tricky challenge from @hool415.bsky.social - I think I've just scraped in under the limit. Will try to catch up with others later.

Screenshot of an X post by Acyn quoting Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt saying the president had a βfeeling, again, based on fact,β that Iran was going to strike the United States. Below is a TV still of Leavitt speaking at a White House press briefing podium, with a news banner reading βBREAKING NEWS.β
We bombed a girlsβ school and killed 175 kids based on his feelings?!
He's yelling at the dumbass Fox News guy. Definitely starting to feel the heat. Will it matter? Who knows, but he's not comfy right now and that makes me feel good.
No! The smell...π

@blackboughpoetry.bsky.social here's 16 words about the Irish language. It's also a nod to Seachtain na Gaeilge/Irish Language Week #snag26 The title Mo Theanga means My Language/My Tongue. Thank you!π

My anger is making me ill.
Kemi Badenoch has accused Keir Starmer of not supporting the initial strikes in Iran for fear of upsetting Muslim voters βwhose political loyalties are swayed by conflicts in the Middle East, not the British national interest.β
Thatβs quite the claim, and pretty inflammatory.
Christopher who? In May, a party founded eight years ago, with no record in national government and only eight MPs, will fight elections in Wales and Scotland, and for control of councils across England, with every chance of winning many of them. British politics is being reshaped by Reform UK. This is a result of Nigel Farage's personality and of Christopher Harborne's money - Β£9m, from a fortune amassed largely through cryptocurrency investments. The party would not be able to field candidates, run social media operations or door-to-door campaigns if it weren't for the Harborne war chest. There is a template for crypto-funded campaigning - in the US, where it is viewed as having led to securing crypto-friendly legislation and sweetheart deals to enrich crypto charlatans and undermine transparency and accountability in politics. Reform threatens to destroy the Conservatives as a party of government and divide communities, increasingly along ethnic lines and with overtly racist arguments. It also poses the most serious threat to Keir Starmer's government, Harborne lives in Thailand and owns a 12% stake in the Tether stablecoin. Little else is known about this intensely private man. Yet he can influence the course of politics, seemingly without either much of a business or life in the UK. It's a lot like overseas interference in British democracy. Didn't someone once say: "Take back control"?

Five years ago this week, Sarah Everard was murdered by a serving police officer, sparking protests & promises of change
But now, woman officers abused by colleagues tell me reforms have victimised them more instead of protecting them

Here's the moment a tearful host on Iranian state TV confirms that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in US and Israeli air strikes.
The Iranian government has announced 40 days of mourning and a week-long holiday to mark Khamenei's death.
