Please read and reflect on this quote from the lead GOP candidate for Governor, Rep Demuth:
βWhen we have other things that are popping up, assistance due to people making choices to either not go to work or do other things, there is not an appetite in the House Republican Caucus for that.β
It is meaningful that this needed support passed (and with bipartisan support from Sen. Abeler).
It is a *choice* if House Republicans do not move this forwar.

Sitting with some beautiful and heavy things this evening. Grateful. π
As troopers hoisted activists up from their seats, the group sang in harmony:
βNo one is getting left behind this time. No one is getting left behind. No one is getting left behind this time. We get there together or never get there at all.β

Primer on the harms of the SAVE Act for folks who need it:
www.brennancenter.org/our-work/ana...
Minnesotans rejected strict voter ID requirements back in 2012 at the same time our state rejected a ban on same-sex marriage equality.
We should be proud of our stateβs election systems and voter participation; not working to undermine them.

A letter from Minnesota Republicans urging the passage of the SAVE Act
I know some folks arenβt feeling the Klobmentum; but this letter supporting the SAVE act signed by all of the GOP House contenders for statewide office - Reps. Demuth, Robbins, Bennett, Niska, and Engen - lays out the stakes pretty clearly on voting rights.
The SAVE Act is *bad* policy.
Really should have stuck with Walz's weird framing.
βThe resistance doesnβt win by being angrier or louder than the regime. It wins by being structurally smarter. By applying targeted, sustained pressure to make the legs give way.β

Larissa, a therapist from D.C., recently spent 12 hours in a jail cell with five other people. There was no running water, since the sink wasnβt working. They were all fed once: a baloney sandwich per person.
She was there for her trans patients. They're being hurt by this administration, she said.
Litigation alone wonβt save us, but it is a tool that compliments mutual aid, advocacy, and organizing.
And from beating back illegal efforts to claw back funding to challenges to state and federal overreach on anti-equality policies we are getting wins and building a legal record of harms done.
I know itβs easy to feel down on the state of litigation on LGBTQ+ issues, especially given the Supreme Courtβs recent record.
But there are good reasons to be hopeful about challenges at multiple levels (state and federal).
And perhaps more important: Every challenge can buy time.
It matters.
Really important update for folks in Kansas - SB244 is on pause for at least a few more weeks while legal hearings are in process.
"Kobach told McCabria he agreed to give Kansans who needed to update driverβs licenses until March 26 to complete that."

I get yelled at for saying this but for many hundreds of years people went to university not to get diplomas or be employable but because immersion in the humanities was considered foundational to a good life, and school must return to its original purpose: the joy of learning.
Gratitude and care to our St Paul City Council and Mayor who have been showing up for our community. π©΅π
This is a well argued editorial about political violence by @jburcum.bsky.social. I especially appreciated that she does not implicate ordinary if divisive political speech, as almost every other take on this topic does. Gift link: www.startribune.com/mn-political...

Today I am not prey to dark uncertainty
The shadow trembles in its wrath
I've robbed its blackness blind
And tasted sunlight as my fear came clear to me
I think I understand
Fear is like a wilderland
Stepping stones or sinking sand

I once on a lark decided to see about making a βMinnesota dogβ as an answer to the Chicago dog: tater tot crumble, cream of mushroom w/wild rice and sweet corn gravy, topped with shredded cheddar.
Once was enough, but perhaps inspiration.

Interesting interview in Playboy with transgender adult content creators. People often point to Pornhub stats showing trans content is more popular than ever as a contradiction, as if political and sexual objectification were ever mutually exclusive
