Architecture is a balance between societies needs and the individuals desires
Also, architecture should reflect the greater good. Architecture should serve the public, protect the public, reflect the public. Architecture should reside in the public realm. Give form to the needs of the masses, respond to the collective desires of the people. Architecture should provide shelter
Architecture should be aspired to
If architecture can be explained in simple digestible bits, it's probably not architecture that's worth having. Architecture should be aggressively contradictory and elusive. Architecture should raise concern. Architecture should confound and raise questions. Architecture should intrigue.
"Minus value engineering" should be added to all equations
Architecture = design concept - value engineering
Architecture = structures + optimism
Time = your clients money
Architecture = idealism / realism
Architecture = (creative concept + detailing) / the clients budget
Architecture = creativity + cantilevers
Less = more (+/-)
Architecture = (form + function) / financing
*note, you can't divide by zero
