There should be a word that means “I’m not doing well, but I’m proud of how well I’m dealing with it.”

"Let’s Put The Future Behind Us" is one of the most culturally insensitive things I've read in a while. I don't think he missed a single USSR/Russians are evil trope in that one. He even made basic translation mistakes, which is the one thing you should get right when writing about foreign culture.
I was thinking of using my big screen TV as a monitor and cram in a chapter or two. :D
Finding a book that grabs you really is a blessing and a curse.
While driving I realized my vision is blurry.
Grew concerned.
Then remembered I have been reading every free minute since the holidays began.
No longer concerned, but am torn between letting my eyes rest or reading more chapters....
...vision is not that important, right????

The downside of avoiding all advertising like the plague, is that I have to find out about book releases, from authors I like, like this.
And if I didn't take a procrastination break, I may never have found out about this. The horror!
This was the weirdest thing I've read this year. But a good weird!! Took me days to snap out of the 'daze'. Still a struggle to explain to people what the book is actually about. 10/10
Cover of "The Works of Vermin" by Hiron Ennes. Stylized flowers and plant branches over a dark multi color background. The title is encircled by a centipede, touching its own tail.
What the hell did I just read??? And, more importantly, can I have some more?!??!
Very weird. Very unique. And very well written. Took me a couple of hours after the last page to get back in sync with our reality.

What freezer brand is it? In the market for one so I can freeze a whole cow :D
Amazing article. Very much enjoyed the author not coming out and screaming "this is nuts, right?!?!" but letting us see for ourselves.
This was really a great read!!! "The 22 Murders of Madison May" was great as well. Fast paced thrillers that had nice little twists.
I've wanted to reread this for a long time. Finally got it from the library and very happy to realize it is just as fabulous as remembered (originally pubbed in 2013). 📚
$75K or $175k? Previous sales record lists it at $175
Just had them (eGo) replace a battery that went bad via warranty. Very quick call. Had to wait for them to mail the replacement.
O+ is super useful!!!! I want to do platelets since i am Rh- but don't know how I will react to it. Closest donor center is too far to just wing it with no plan. If everyone does their part we can all benefit!
Oh, I didn't do Power Red. That's a single stick btw in case anyone is wondering.
My first vein didn't play nice post stick and got foamy. Since blood did not reach the bag I got to try with the other arm. 2nd was a win. I get a bonus bruise for my troubles. :D
Had to get stabbed in both arms today to finally get that 'good flow'. Worth it!!
Donating blood has many health benefits. Be selfish! Go donate a pint or two (Power Red)!!
Sure. But is the system not responsible for creating the audience? Taste and deeper understanding needs room to develop and encouragement to grow. How is the audience supposed to do that when they are expected to be making $$ every conscious moment?
Just had a recent discussion about enshittification of movies/tv shows/books being the direct result of market forces. Also known as capitalism.
I feel like the author conflated some terms. "brain rot" being one thing and "meme speak" (not just internet speak but references understood by a group of people with shared experiences) being another. The examples are not the case of Ellochka the Cannibal brain rot. (IYKYK) :D
An uneven piece about "brain-rot language", which seems to mean online phrasal frames used offline. She has the sense to refer to @gretchenmcc.bsky.social's excellent book, but still says disapprovingly "brain-rot language is a verbal crutch" before shrugging. 1/

Lots of people have very boring lives, which does not preclude them from posting every 10 minutes complaining how they have no time to do anything.
It is absolutely fine to have a boring life. It is also fine to post sporadically or never at all. You are more than your social media presence. :)
I was chastised for waiting until someone finished a thought, instead of replying to the first line they sent. Maybe I am old, but I remember waiting for "x is typing..." to finish what they were typing being good manners.
PS: "Because Internet" by @gretchenmcc.bsky.social touches a bit on that.
