Hi all! It's been awhile since I last posted. All is well: I just needed to take a break to focus on my family, health, and other job.

I did want to share this magazine I got as a birthday present! I've never crocheted a sweater before, but I might give this pattern a go.

An Aud bit of crocheting advice: weave in loose ends as you go! Some people may prefer to weave in loose ends after they've finished crocheting their project (I have also done this) and that's fine! However, if you have a project with many loose ends from repeated color/yarn changes, it may be nice to weave in the ends as you go. That way, you don't have dozens of pieces of yarn to weave in when you finally finish crocheting your project!

This Queen Corydoras Catfish I crocheted reminds me of Dr. Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb.

Check out this adorable feathered friend I crocheted for a friend of a friend's birthday! The colors are based off of the blue Stardew Valley chicken.

An Aud bit of crocheting advice: in some projects, you can use yarn in different weights if you adapt your pattern to accommodate this difference in gauge. For example, if I'm making a project with a heavier weight yarn and a lighter weight yarn, I need to crochet more stitches with the lighter weight yarn to match the width and length of the part of the project I am using it on to the width and length of the heavier weight yarn at the point in the project I am joining it to. This doesn't work for all projects, or if the yarn weights are very different from each other, but it is a fun thing to experiment with!

New yarn haul!

I paid $8 for this yarn at MECCA, a local secondhand arts supplies store. It's such a cool place, and I feel lucky to live in an area with places like this that make art more accessible and sustainable.

I'm so excited to use all of these in some upcoming projects!

Happy (late) pride!! 🌈 Here's an owl I made for a raffle at a pride event last weekend.

An Aud bit of crocheting advice: for patterns that call for sewing multiple crocheted pieces together, crochet each piece separately first before sewing anything together. That way, if you are unhappy with how one piece looks, you can redo it without having to worry about cutting stitches and messing with the rest of your project. I also find this helps me work more quickly and efficiently.

This is a blanket I made while my family and I drove from South Dakota to Oregon. Sections of the blanket were made different states, including South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Washington, and Oregon! It's hard to tell from the photos, but it's super soft and warm.

Are you able to redo the part where you made the goof? How far back is the goof? If it's really far back in your project, is it worth starting over from scratch? Don't be daunted at the idea of restarting if you feel it's necessary. You might find that some goofs are best left alone, and that's OK too. You're the artist, and you get to decide what you want your final piece to be.

Here are some of the things I've crocheted for myself and friends and family over the years.

I love all my critters, and it's cool to look back and see areas where I've improved. Sewing multiple pieces onto amigurumi and having them look tidy is one thing I've improved upon over time!
