With sorrow, we announce the passing of FOBAZI M. ETTARH 1989 - 2026. Fobazi changed so many lives with her friendship, love, and brilliance. She was so loved, and leaves behind a powerful legacy. We thank Fobazi's community for their support over the last several months of her illness. A private burial will be held for family. We will be in touch with further information about a future Celebration of Life event, as well as ways to support Fobazi's family and legacy.
POSTPONED. We'll reschedule this soon!

No surprise to librarians, but perhaps surprising to users, demands/prices for ebooks /audiobooks are killing public library budgets. David Szalay's book, Flesh,” costs DCPL:
$28.99 hardcopy
$59.99 ebook

When we say "no, everything hasn't been digitized," I need you to understand that we really mean is that virtually nothing has been digitized. This is because the realm of primary sources that historians use is incomprehensibly large.
I feel once again compelled to emphasis the digitizing in the literal scanning sense is fairly unimportant if it is not accompanied with metadata providing context for discovery. Both humans and AI will make things up when they don't know what they are looking at.

NEW FIND–Fragments of manuscript used as binder’s waste!
Early printing in Europe often used scraps from manuscripts for bookbinding.

Federal court decision spells win for State Library of Ohio, libraries nationwide.
"While the State Library of Ohio sees the court win as a positive sign, they are still struggling due to cuts the state made in its most recent operating budget."

Front of brick federal style building exterior (Cutler Hall ) on snowy College Green, view up brick walkway with bare trees.
WINTER . . . Fresh fallen snow lies across the Campus like a ragged scarf, shadowy fingers caress the droppinq elm-shapes, and a scatter of shivering students chatter together at the gate. The walk to Cutler is now an obscured pathway to knowledge, for OU is winter-bound again. Students blow warm breath-puffs on frost-covered knuckles, bury their heads in gay mufflers, and troop down Putnam [Jeff] Hill with their sleds and cardboard slides.
