it's so jarring! i thought i was blending in pretty well while travelling last week and then got sir-ed at least 5-6 times in the airport on my way home
if you're going to go for it, my advice would be:
1. do the degree that puts you in the least amount of debt (there are some entirely online programs and no one will care what school your mlis is from)
2. get as much library working experience as possible (this is what employers actually care about)
it's a real roll of the dice job prospect wise. i was lucky to get a good job right after my mlis 10 years ago, but had to move far. anecdotally, a lot of my classmates struggled to find work. most of the ones who did find good jobs had library work experience, luck, and were willing to relocate.
respectfully, how in the hell are people not fighting to give you a ring??
worth noting that the second rich people stopped being afraid of mobs tearing them limb from limb, they stopped building libraries and opera houses and stuff and started ripping the copper wiring out of the walls of society instead
I guess I do think if you participated in the arrest of a five-year-old you are probably just fundamentally incompatible with society. That you are not a safe person for humanity to be around, generally
