A Mississippi mother couldn't find accurate sex ed for her kids. So she started a class at church As states scale back requirements for comprehensive sex ed, some parents and faith communities are stepping in to teach what schools won't

We love seeing Our Whole Lives (OWL) making a difference!

The Guardian highlighted how Wendy Pfrenger helped bring OWL to the UU Congregation of Oxford in Mississippi so local youth could access inclusive, accurate sex education: https://bit.ly/4s1JGj1

Photo of a cream-colored book page with a short Shel Silverstein poem titled “YESEES AND NOEES.” The text is printed in a simple serif font and reads like a playful parable. It explains that the “Yesees” said yes to anything anyone suggested, while the “Noees” refused everything unless it was proven and tested. The poem concludes that the Yesees “died of much too much,” the Noees “died of fright,” but the “Thinkforyourselfees” somehow came out all right. The page is slightly shadowed and photographed straight-on, emphasizing the whimsical moral about independent thinking. Generated with Bluesky AltText, a CustomGPT.

YESEES AND NOEES

The Yesees said yes to anything
That anyone suggested.
The Noees said no to everything
Unless it was proven and tested.
So the Yesees all died of much too much
And the Noees all died of fright,
But somehow I think the Thinkforyourselves
All came out all right.

I get yelled at for saying this but for many hundreds of years people went to university not to get diplomas or be employable but because immersion in the humanities was considered foundational to a good life, and school must return to its original purpose: the joy of learning.

Pink–lavender graphic with sparkly glitter effects. At the top, black text reads: “THE JESTER IN ME RECOGNIZES THE JESTER IN YOU.” Centered behind the foreground figure is a decorative, symmetrical line drawing in purple resembling an ornate heart or crest filled with dangling heart shapes and starbursts, like mystical filigree. In front of it stands a stylized jester in black-and-white harlequin costume: ruffled collar, diamond-pattern shorts, curled shoes, and a floppy two-horn jester hat with bells. The jester strikes a playful pose, one hand on the hip and the other gesturing outward as if greeting a fellow trickster. The overall vibe is whimsical, glittery, and mischievous—campy court-jester energy with a hint of magical recognition between chaos gremlins. Generated with Bluesky AltText, a CustomGPT.

Square graphic with a muted purple background and layered, flowing wave shapes in red, magenta, orange, and deep blue. At the top, centered in small gold text, is the URL: “uuworld.org/meet-the-moment.” The words “Meet the Moment” appear in large gold letters curved along the wave shapes across the upper half of the image. Inside a bright orange wave on the right is the UUA flaming chalice logo in red.

Along the left edge, small vertical text reads: “Image © Deep/Unsplash.”

The lower third of the graphic is a dark navy-blue panel with a large gold quote: “These practices… ripple out, building our own momentum that carries us toward justice, liberation, and Love at the center.” Beneath the quote, in smaller gold text, it reads: “– Rev. Nancy McDonald Ladd.” The flowing wave shapes and warm gradients suggest movement and gathering momentum.

Unitarian Universalist Association Reiterates Longstanding Condemnation of U.S. Military Action Against Iran In 2025, the UUA reiterated its opposition to such military action. We do so again today, and every day these armed attacks continue.

The UUA has long opposed U.S. military intervention in Iran and called for diplomacy that protects innocent life and human rights. We reaffirm that stance today.
