A lovely thing: our Literary Society meets in a room full of old books from decades past, and I let them choose what they want us to read from off the shelves. Last term we enjoyed Waiting for Godot and Death of a Salesman; previously we’ve explored Sylvia Plath, Oscar Wilde and Alan Bennett.

South West Water admits criminal offence over Devon parasite outbreak.

Water unfit for human consumption, 150 people fell ill.

SWW already has nearly 200 criminal convictions. Licence not cancelled, no exec prosecuted, record high customer bills, sewage dumped in rivers.

Privatisation is a scam.

Manchester teachers! Here’s what one judge said last year: It's been such a privilege to be part of the teacher judging team for the UKLA and getting to read so many wonderful children's books! The UKLA has given my students the chance to find new authors, new heroes and new stories to cherish.

I'm writing about the Palestine Action hunger strikers at the moment, any of whom could die at any moment, and the astonishing media and government silence surrounding them. The Establishment seems to have become even crueller than when Thatcher was PM.

A very long and important THREAD -

The real reason the US is invading Venezuela goes back to a deal Henry Kissinger made with Saudi Arabia in 1974.

And I'm going to explain why this is actually about the SURVIVAL of the US dollar itself.

Not drugs. Not terrorism. Not "democracy." 1/

The US has launched an unprovoked and illegal attack on Venezuela.

This is a brazen attempt to secure control over Venezuelan natural resources.

It is an act of war that puts the lives of millions of people at risk, and should be condemned by anyone who believes in sovereignty & international law.
