Cloud regaining his own identity anulls the player's self insert at the same time he stops self-inserting into Zack's identity. He not only rejects Sephiroth's/Jenova's manipulation but in a meta way he also rejects the player's, at least that's my read on it, and I love it
I've always found very interesting how in OG FF7 all the "affection" mechanics stop the moment Cloud regains his own identity. The player stops making decisions for him regarding his affection the moment Cloud starts making them himself, he rejects the player's self insert

I think there is a serious lack of femenine glamours in FFXIV, and I mean femenine, as there is plenty of GIRLY pieces ( is NOT the same). Funnily enough, the androgynous look (suits, ties etc) ends up being the most femenine vibe you can get in game atm playing a female character
