Ourselves, @dublincommuters.bsky.social, @galwaycommuters.bsky.social, & Cork Commuter Coalition wrote to IarnrΓ³d Γireann & the NTA today, asking them to cease posting real-time service updates exclusively on X. This vital info should be widely available. Read below:

Here's a list of Dublin City Council accounts on Blue Sky
Please join us on Thursday morning at 10:30am for a Rally at Leinster House with @Love30
We will be presenting the growing trends of vulnerable road deaths to the Oireachtas & calling on Government to introduce Safer National Road Speeds
We spoke to the Journal recently about the rapidly rising number of vulnerable road user deaths this year
On Oct 2nd, along with other transport & road safety groups, weβll be presenting at the Oireachtas, calling for @Love30 to be introduced Nationally

The Government rollback on commitments to reduce road speeds is quite simply shocking!
30kph speeds have been proven to reduce road accidents, injuries and fatalities but will now be left up to local Councils
Weβre calling on them to recommit to #Love30

It's now nearly 900 people calling for the cycle path trial... Let's get it over that and towards 1,000 signees: my.uplift.ie/petitions/tr...
Time to push on for a 12 month trial of Dublin's Strand Road cycle path. Sign the petition. π

It increasingly feels like a distraction to make the Western world feel better. Seems like there is so little policy focus on reduce and reuse.
This is fun
Entirely expected and almost entirely PREVENTABLE projections for food-related ill-health. Issues with causes that whole populations are exposed to need population-level solutions = policy, regulation.. government action free of undue influence from the very parties who produce those causes
Making cycling an easier and safer option for more people has so many multiple benefits (health, economic, environmental), there is no justification for delays or short-sighted budget cuts.

The dark side of FemTech
A new study finds nearly 4 million cancers in the EU could be avoided by 2050 if targets on smoking, drinking, obesity and air pollution are met. Tobacco alone accounts for 20% of cancer deaths.

A good reminder that cycle lanes and footpaths don't appear congested as they (mostly) allow people to move through quickly and efficiently.
Video taken from charlemont luas stop on a rainy morning.
What a curious find!
Great piece. It's so off-putting as a parent to have to time yourself for the bus before the one you should be getting, just to factor in lots of buffer time. Also, how do you get your guy up that early on a Sat?! π€
Do better @businesspost.bsky.social than platforming this insulting industry nonsense.
More than half of deaths in Ireland are caused by just four harmful commodities: *fossil fuels*, tobacco, alcohol, and unhealthy foods.
What about some bravery and focus on the real issues instead?
To the incoming Irish government: Abandoning the 2:1 public/active transport investment ratio is a grave mistake.
Active and public transport saves lives, cuts emissions, improves health, and reduces healthcare costs.
Investing in roads over people is a step backwards!
...and the line I may quote forever more to anyone who says climate reporting is too doomy:
"The problem is that the problem is so big that to even describe it factually sounds like scaremongering"
Deadline for applying to register for the new Higher Education Constituency is 23rd January 2025.

The global health emergency due to #climate change & nature loss meant health gains over past centuries were threatened. βThis is going to undo 500 years of progressβ.
